Single to benefit families of fallen police officers

Native New Yorker Mariah Carey is set to release a new single on December 11, the proceeds from which will be donated to the New York City Police Heroes Fund, which was set up to aid the families of police officers killed during the September 11 terror attacks. The single will feature a medley of "Never Too Far" and "Hero", and the B-side is an unreleased ballad, "There For Me", which was produced by David Foster and written by Diane Warren.

Carey told the New York Post how she came up with the idea for the single, "So many people were asking me to sing 'Never Too Far' and 'Hero' at fundraisers that I decided to make a medley of the two. This all happened by accident, but I really feel they work together. Even though it's only a single, I wanted the proceeds to benefit the N.Y.C. Police Heroes Fund."
