Mariah Carey pens song for "The Paperboy"
Multi-award winning singer and producer Mariah Carey, has just announced on Twitter - where else - that she's written and recorded a new song called "Mesmerized" for director Lee Daniels's (Precious, Shadowboxer) new film, The Paperboy. Her exact words were: "Little excited to share with you that I wrote a song for Lee Daniels' new movie 'The Paperboy' called Mesmerized!"
Rumored to be co-written and/or co-produced with Jermaine Dupri, this news is all kinds of incredible for a number of reasons:
1: The Paperboy is a Cannes Film Festival contender. That's right Cannes. Serious film industry showcase for new films and not-to-be-sniffed-at prestige, European glamour fest.
2: The film stars some major thesps. Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and, if that wasn't enough, John Cusack.
3: Now add Mariah Carey to the mix, and maybe the possibility of her "Glitteriness" hot-footing it down to the French Riveria in a few weeks when the festival starts (May 16-27) - and it all starts to get fabulously surreal.
The Paperboy is based on a novel by Pete Dexter. In a nutshell, the plot involves journalist (McConaughey) and his younger brother (Efron) as they investigate the events behind the conviction of an inmate on death row.The film's getting lots of critical buzz and apparently Kidman's performance is sensational.
Looks as if life has suddenly got very good again for Mrs Cannon. After the scare of husband Nick Cannon's collapse then diagnosis with autoimmune disease, lupus nephritis, in January of this year, the couple recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in Paris with their twins Moroccan and Monroe.
There's no word yet on whether the world will get to hear "Mesmerized" before Cannes, but here's hoping. (The Inquisitr)
