Mariah Carey demands "no close-up shots" at party

Mariah Carey proved she is still a diva at heart after she reportedly demanded that no close-up camera shots be taken of her at Russell Simmons' charity bash over the weekend. The new American Idol judge was an honoree at the Def Jam founder's Art For Life benefit held at his plush mansion in the Hamptons, so it comes as no surprise that all eyes were on her.

Despite recent reports that she hasn't made any diva requests for her rider on the talent show for which she signed an $18 million contract, Mariah wasn't prepared for cameras to zoom in on her during her speech. According to the NYPost, Mariah "wanted to avoid close-ups of her face", adding that the screens were switched off while she was on stage and turned back on again when she left. In a bid for rumour control, a rep for the event insisted: "Mariah looked stunning."

Mariah was accompanied by her husband Nick Cannon and were also joined by the entire Simmons clan, Melanie Fiona, Anita Baker, Star Jones and many more. Perhaps Mariah was just having an off day...
