Nicki responded to Steven Tyler's "racist" comments

Hey, Mariah, why don't you just sit this one out? Nicki Minaj took to Twitter on Monday night to respond to former "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler's recent remarks about her alleged feud with Mariah Carey, and the outspoken rapper didn't hold back on her biting retorts.

Tyler, who sat in as a judge for the singing competition show last season, gave MTV News his honest assessment of the upcoming season's four judges, honing in on the drama between Mariah Carey and Minaj. "I know that they've got something going on on the judges' panel, and it shouldn't be that, it should be just the opposite. They should have something going on, which is called 'camaraderie'," the rocker told MTV News.

"They should have something going on so thick and beautiful that they can lay it over the talent that's trying to birth itself. It needs to be birthed, not judged by 'entertainment' factors. It needs to be judged by people who are honest, true, that have the 'it' factor. Not the 'it' factor because they can fight. The f--- is that all about?"

The Aerosmith frontman went on to subtly chide Minaj and Carey for letting their egos get ahead of their jobs as musical mentors on the show. "You just have to give your opinion. It wasn't hard for me, but I would imagine it's hard for some people, and they need a manager to say, 'Shut the f--- up, and just give them your opinion'," Tyler quipped.

"These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere, and they're in New York City, they're scared to death; you're not going to get the best out of them that way. If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying."

Minaj, who previously downplayed the ongoing feud between her and Carey, told MTV News that the pair were "fine", then really let Tyler, 64, have it. The angry Trinidad-born and Queens-raised rapper called Tyler "racist" and suggested that the rock legend was merely putting her down because he himself was ridiculed for his involvement with the show.

"I understand you really wanted to keep your job but take that up with the producers," she wrote. "I haven't done anything to you. That's a racist comment. You assume that I wouldn't have liked Bob Dylan. Why? Black? Rapper? What? Go f--- yourself and worry about yourself babe."

Fans of the eccentric diva showed their support for Minaj with tweets en masse. "Nobody ever says anything when people make these comments about her and come at her but let Nicki defend herself and all hell breaks loose," one commenter wrote. "They're mad that the little black girl from Queens is making a brand and taking their jobs," another said.

The "Starships" singer took the verbal battle one step further, pulling Carey back into the fray with a not-so-subtle reference. "Lol lets make him a shirt that says 'No Coloreds Allowed', then escort him down to Barbara Walters so he can tell how he was threatened with guns," she e-chuckled.
