Mariah Carey sees increases on Billboard Social 50 Chart
A good week for both singers... Billboard reports that Selena Gomez and Mariah Carey saw some significant jumps up on the Billboard Social 50 chart this week. Gomez went up from 34-24 after the release of her new track, "Slow Down", from her new album Stars Dance. The track debuted on June 3 and generated over 3.5 million global views on VEVO through June 9. This contributed to over 17 million views Gomez received on her VEVO channel during the week. She also received 136,000 new fans on Facebook. Gomez's new album is set to drop on July 23.
Mariah Carey went up from 46-38 (a 38% increase) courtesy of a teasing message she posted on her Facebook and Twitter accounts on June 5: "The new era begins 7/23." The post was an announcement of the release date of her 13th studio album on July 23. The announcement pushed a 39% increase for Carey in weekly fan acquisition, which equates to 275,000 new fans across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Taylor Swift remained at No. 2. Though she saw a massive increase in points with 777,000 new fans added and 19 million plays, most of which were on her VEVO channel where the video for "Everything Has Changed" was posted.
For the rest of the top 10: Justin Bieber was No. 1; Rihanna was No. 3; Bruno Mars went up from 5-4; Pitbull went up 7-5; One Direction went up from 8-6; Jennifer Lopez went down from 4-7; Beyonce rised up from 11-8; Justin Timberlake went down from 6-9; and Adele made No. 10. (411mania)
