Tuscaloosa girl's wish comes true

A young lady from Tuscaloosa recently had her special wish come true. According to a news release, eight-year-old Khari was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2013, and was told she could wish for anything in the world. Khari has always been one of Mariah Carey's biggest fans, and she wished to meet the star. As of late November, it seemed her wish would happen, due to scheduling conflicts.

But, a few days before the Thanksgiving Day 2014 holiday, the national Make-A-Wish celebrity team called the Make-A-Wish Alabama office to say Mariah Carey wanted Khari to join her for Thanksgiving in California. "It was pretty awesome," Khari's mother, Kristie, said. "Khari was really star struck and in shock. She leaned over and said 'I'm just so nervous - I'm trying to remain calm'."

Mariah not only sat down and had dinner with Khari, but she also took Khari on a private 20 minute tour of her home, took photos with Khari and gave Khari an autographed gumball machine with three of her signature perfumes inside.

"The pictures of Khari and Mariah Carey will instantly bring a tear to your eye and a warm, fuzzy feeling to your heart," Make-A-Wish Alabama President and CEO, Pam Jones, said. "We appreciate Mariah and her team for making the day so special for Khari. It was more than a wish - it was a moment in time that Khari and her family will never forget."

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
