Pre-game show preparations under way

While it might look easy on the field, it takes a lot of hard work to get 450 girls in sync for the pre-game performance. That's according to choreographer Lesslee Fitzmorris, who has been choreographing the performances for the past 17 Super Bowls. However, Fitzmorris said that this game has special meaning for her. She is a local who has also seen many of the girls in the show grow up here as well. Fitzmorris said that Super Bowl Sunday will be a big experience for the young performers.

"It's really special to see them enjoying it and working with Paul McCartney, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Bilge, Marc Anthony, Barry Manilow and the list goes on," Fitzmorris said. "It's overwhelming, really."

Performer Tiffany Tisdale is from Covington. She has been in four different Super Bowl pre-game shows, but she said that this one is different. "It's local (so) you feel more at home, and you don't have to go somewhere that you're not accustomed to," Tisdale said. "It's a lot easier."

But for many performers, this is the first time that they have participated in an event like this. Performer Lisa Hollister said that this year's "Freedom Theme" will touch everyone's hearts. "I think it's going to have a big impact on the New Orleans fans," Hollister said. "We'll all be smiling and crying at the same time."

Most performers seem to think that this year's show will be something special, so the girls said that they are continuing to practice hard to make sure that this performance will be a memorable one. The performers will be sport costumes in red, white and blue, and some will even reportedly be dressed as the Statue of Liberty. A dress rehearsal is planned for Saturday at the Superdome, but pre-game officials said that the show will closed to the media.
