Mariah Carey reveals meaning behind "Infinity" lyrics

Singer Mariah Carey made a grand entrance in Las Vegas on Monday night, kicking off her new residency at Caesars Palace. The superstar arrived in a pink convertible, and was then carried through the hotel - Cleopatra style - by a group of men.

Afterward, she spoke with "Extra's" Tracey Edmonds about her Sin City show, "Mariah #1 to Infinity", and those rumors she's dating Brett Ratner. Mariah explained that the show, which launches next month, will feature her 18 #1 hits, and her latest single, "Infinity".

She also revealed the true meaning behind "Infinity", calling it her "showpiece". "Infinity is like love equals you first, the line, there's a section of the song where it's like a chant, it's like 'you're leaving, you're leaving you're out the door infinity loving me more and more', meaning you have to love yourself first, it can't be all about somebody else's thing or their issues it has to be you and then you can deal with the rest of the things in your life. Yeah, we had fun with the lyrics, but I do that with a lot of songs listen to 'Touch My Body', listen to 'Obsessed', we go back and forth with it."

Mariah, who has enlisted Brett Ratner to direct the video for "Infinity", laughed off rumors the two are dating. She said, "Of course there were these rumors of our fabulous love affair, darling." When Tracey asked if she wanted to clear the air, the singer joked, "I want everyone to know that we're getting married next week, me and Brett forever, and ever, infinity and beyond." She continued, "We're really good friends, he's super talented, and I'm just really proud of him and everything he's doing."

Carey is not the only one excited to begin her residency in Las Vegas. Carey said "Dem babies", Monroe and Moroccan, like the town. "They're loving it here, they really are, they're doing all their activities, they're enjoying themselves, they have each other, they have their routine."

"Mariah #1 to Infinity" opens May 6 at Caesars Palace.
