Mariah Carey remains in hospital
Mariah Carey entered a hospital suffering from "extreme exhaustion", according to a statement issued by a spokesperson for the singer on Thursday (July 26). The singer checked herself into a hospital late Wednesday night (July 25), just hours after leaving two rambling voice messages on her official website mariahcarey.com.
Official statements regarding the singer's hospitalization were released by both her New York and London publicists, which has led to some confusion as to which country Carey is currently receiving care in. Despite reports placing her in hospitals in both London and New York, the location of the hospital Carey is resting in has not been announced, although Carey's New York representative did confirm for Launch on Friday (July 27) that "she's not in London. She's in an undisclosed location in the U.S."
In the first voice message on Carey's official website, the singer stated, in part: "All I really wanna say is I don't know what's going on with life, and I hope all the fans are good and I just want you to know that I'm trying to understand things in life right now and so I really don't feel that I should be doing music right now. I just want everyone to understand that, and that's really true, so if I don't make music it's not because I don't want to for you fans."
That message was followed by a second, in which Carey says: "I'm just trying to let you know that I'm leaving this message because everything's OK. And what we're gonna do is, I'm gonna take, like, a minute off... Right now I need a break, so I will, as a human being, take that break."
The two voice messages have since been removed from Carey's official website, and her New York spokesperson said, "She was obviously very tired and not thinking clearly" when she left the messages. (Launch.com)
