Australian "Glitter" review

Mariah Carey has sold over 150 million albums, with over a million of them here in Australia. She is the most successful female recording artist ever and Glitter is her latest long awaited album, the first with her new label, Virgin. The pop princess with the multi-octave voice range has done it again - Glitter is something for everyone, taking us on a pop, R&B, disco & ballad journey. The production is slick, topped off with a dash of old-style Mariah, mixed with the new urban chic Mariah. The album features 6 or 7 tracks with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson. Mary J Blige) and collaborations with Busta Rhymes, Mystikal and Ja Rule.

The opener "Loverboy" is a sassy groovy little track. She certainly does justice to "Didn't Mean To Turn You On" (made famous in the 80's by Robert Palmer). Oh boy - you could not get more 80's break dance/ Eddie Murphy, or those excited Pointer Sisters if you tried. Glitter keeps the pace rolling on into "Funkin' 4 Jamaica" and slows down in "Reflections". No guess here as to what she's singing about as she launches into "A picture fades of you and I together, I haven't come to terms with how we said goodbye, did you ever really care, care for me?" But don't fear music readers cause "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" puts a swing back into your hips. She's back, Ladies and Gents, she's back.
