DJ Quik joins forces with Mariah

Mariah Carey has added DJ Quik to her growing roster of collaborators on her next album. The singer has just completed sessions with Murder Inc producer 7 Aurelius in the Bahamas, and she has now called on the efforts of the Los Angeles MC. Quik reveals the couple have already recorded an upbeat track for the album and they're now planning to get together again for a ballad.

And Quik says he was surprised with Carey's work ethic. He adds, "Mariah is serious. It's funny, I didn't get a chance to do her vocals, but I like how she takes the recording process seriously. She's not in there lollygagging, wasting time. She's in there writing harmonies with her girls. It was real cool. It don't hurt that she's real fine. She's real easy on the eyes." Quik is convinced the new project will put Carey back on top of the charts after the flop of her album and film Glitter.

He adds, ""I think Glitter was a hoax. In my opinion, I think she got caught in something that just didn't work. I think it was partially timing, too, and the fact there weren't any really strong singles."
