For BET and Stevie, it's a wonder-ful life

Every so often, we're confronted with Life's Mysteries. How can one person - Stevie Wonder - make so much great music? Why does Mariah Carey get $28 million not to sing? And what makes Nation of Islam minister Louis Farrakhan funkier than Bob Johnson? For a few hours Saturday night, these were the big questions. The occasion was Black Entertainment Television's eighth annual Walk of Fame party honoring Wonder, who was the center of a star-studded tribute concert starring Carey, Eric Clapton, Ja Rule, India.Arie, Justin Timberlake, Brian McKnight, Chante Moore, Gerald Levert, Jill Scott, Musiq and many more.

[Timberlake] introduced pop diva Carey, who chose a low-cut, ankle-length black dress for the occasion. Curiosity was high, given this was one of the first peeks at the "Glitter" star since she had a breakdown and received a reported $28 million contract buyout from Virgin Records. She's hard at work on her new album, but her voice was so hoarse during her rendition of "You and I" that it was impossible to gauge her comeback.

Many thanks to Mariah Downunder.
