One sister helps another

The "news" that Mariah's sister Alison has written a book in which she claims that she worked as a prostitute to support Mariah at the beginning of her career is going around the world. Here is what can be found in the Brazilian magazine Veja:

"Everybody knows that the career of the exuberant singer Mariah Carey, super famous at the moment, just happened because of her ex-husband Tommy Mottola, the head of Sony Music. Right now her older sister, Alison, appeared to tell everybody that she gave a little contribution on Mariah's career too. She was a hooker in New York, payed for her fancy cars and dresses that Mariah used to wear to go to the auditions (especially to Tommy's audition). Alison says that her sister only tells 5% of her true life and that the rest of the crap she will tell in her book Mariah and Me, that is near to be released. The singer's agent says that Alison 'is going in and out the addiction hospitals' and that 'they don't even know if the book really does exist'."

Linda Stasi writes another side to the story in The New York Post: "Several years ago, I met Mariah Carey's sister, Alison, who was not only HIV positive, but in a battle with her mother for custody of her son. Well, the former prostitute, who claimed her wages of sin helped pay for limos to transport Mariah to her early gigs, is in dire straits again.

Since she was in the news, Alison lost custody of the boy, her second-born; has had intermittent contact with her oldest son; and two years ago gave birth to another son. When she can afford it, she and the boy live in a welfare hotel. And when they can't, they live in the car.

Despite recent stories to the contrary, she has not written a book, she has not gotten big bucks for selling her story, and she is not being supported by Mariah, although the star does contribute to her survival. But not enough to keep a roof over her head. On Thursday night, Alison and the baby spent the night in the car in Huntington, L.I., and were desperately looking for a place to live."
