Fan gathering in Tucson, Arizona

On Tuesday April 12th, a group of Mariah's fans in Tucson, Arizona celebrated the release of "The Emancipation of Mimi". This fan gathering was prepared by Larry Hernandez months before the release of Mariah's new album. Back in November, the gathering was announced on Mariah's official fan club website. The goal was to promote the new album, and all of the guests agreed to help spreading the word about "Emancipation".

During the day, Tucson's streets were witness of a limo decorated by fans, which played Mariah's new music all over the main streets of Tucson, Arizona. The limo had the words "Mariah" and "Carey" in each side. There were also details very "Mariah" and the name of the album, "The Emancipation of Mimi". It was amazing to see how everyone in their cars noticed the limo playing Mariah's music. The fan gathering titled "Much love for Mariah" started at 10:30am at a local park in Tucson where the limo was waiting for the enthusiastic supporters.

Once we were there, we received the flyers that we were supposed to spread in malls, music stores, and streets. We left the park at 11:00 am to our first stop at a local music store where we all bought the album at the same time. The music store employees were excited to see us, and they were kind because they gave away some official promo items. Then, we left to go to the first mall. We had our maps to follow, this part of the gathering was very successful. Some of us spread the flyers in the mall, and some other fans spread the flyers outside.

We left soon after letting know about the new album to many shoppers. It was incredible since I heard Mariah Carey in two stores, which means the album had many chances to be successful. Our next stop was in the streets of Tucson. It was also amazing to hear some cars playing "The Emancipation of Mimi". We stayed in the streets for a few minutes, after visiting restaurants, stores, and other public places. We found many people who were eager to know more about the new album, however, we also found some rude people, but in the end, who cares?

The crew continued the labor, as we spread hundred of flyers, and also gave away all of the CDs we had courtesy of Larry Hernandez. Then, the crew went to the last stop at Tucson Mall, which was the most disappointing place. We got to the main entrance while "It's Like That" was being played. Immediately after arriving, the mall security said we needed a permission to work inside the place, but they refused to tell us where to get one. The crew got inside arguing we were going to buy CDs, but we spread as many flyers as we could. In the end, the rude security was almost chasing us. They finally asked the crew to leave. They also stupidly asked Larry Hernandez the name of the manager who worked for Universal Music. Nonetheless, we got our work done there.

That incident didn't bring us down, on the other hand, we were satisfied, even when some of us still had lots of flyers. In our way back to the park, we celebrated with champagne and more of the new album. The gathering ended at a park where the crew started the journey. It was exciting to know that Mariah Carey knew about the project, and after all, the gathering was an unforgettable experience for all of us. It was our way to express our love to Mariah Carey.
