"We Belong Together" Mariah's second longest #1

Now at nine weeks at #1, "We Belong Together" has spent more weeks at #1 than any other Mariah single except the record-breaking "One Sweet Day". Predictably Rihanna is unable to unseat Mariah due to the large gap in airplay between the two songs (a difference of over 126 million audience impressions in this tracking week). Rihanna's digital sales almost doubled Mariah's this past week but it still isn't enough to really challenge Mariah for the #1 spot. In fact Rihanna would have needed over 85,000 digital downloads this past week to have taken over the #1 spot. Instead she moves less than half of that amount and therefore Mariah stays comfortably ahead for yet another week.

"We Belong Together" loses its #1 slot on the Pop 100 to The Pussycat Dolls & Busta Rhymes but the song earns another #1 on another chart. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, "It's Like That", "We Belong" goes to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart.

"Shake It Off" enters the upper half of the Hot 100 in just its second week on the survey. It makes strides at various formats including a most impressive 21-15 jump at Top 40 Rhythmic. There's no question that this format has given more love to Mariah this year than any other.

And there's a surprise this week as "Mine Again", a song that was not sent to radio, has debuted on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #82 after spending a few weeks bubbling under. It is not unheard of for songs to debut on a Billboard chart, the R&B chart especially, without being officially serviced to radio. However this is quite unusual in Mariah's case. It'll be interesting to see how this performs and if it does well whether or not it gets the full push from the record company.

"The Emancipation Of Mimi" makes an unbulleted move back to #2 on the Billboard 200. The latest release in the "Now That's What I Call Music" series prevents Mariah from getting a third week at #1. Mariah doesn't seem ready to leave the top ten - or the top five for that matter - anytime soon.
