"Don't Forget About Us" review

Mariah Carey certainly knows a hit formula when she sees one. After three hit singles from her comeback album The Emancipation Of Mimi, she has unveiled a new single put together with the help of Jermaine Dupri. "Don't Forget About Us" is cut from a similar cloth to "We Belong Together", Carey's massive hit single from earlier in 2005. This new cut is nearly as strong as "We Belong Together" and marginally better than "Shake It Off".

It shouldn't be long before we see "Don't Forget About Us" in the pop top 10. Carey sounds very comfortable in her new, lower register singing voice. There is occasional, mostly background, trademark warbling in the upper ranges, but the focus is on a more mature, soulful vocal style. "Don't Forget About Us" is tailor made for the radio. If you are a fan of the post-comeback Mariah Carey, this song is for you.
