Web users have spoken
Terra Lycos, the largest global Internet network, today announced the top 50 search terms for the year 2000, based on the Lycos 50. The Lycos 50 is an authoritative, non-commercial, weekly list of the 50 most popular people, places and things users are searching for on the Web. The Lycos 50 for 2000 is based on user searches from January 1 through November 25, 2000.
Derived by tracking the daily search queries from Lycos users, The Lycos 50 reflects what users are searching for now, and can even predict what will be hot down the line. "Our search technology lets us track web search results, giving us real insight into what is capturing the public's attention. That means we can often track future trends as they're developing," said Mark Stoever, vice president of search and destinations for Terra Lycos.
