Mariah's wedding prompts Bahamas promo campaign
The recent Bahamian nuptials of diva Mariah Carey and funnyman Nick Cannon on the island of Eleuthera has prompted the tourist board of the Bahamas to mount a major travel promotion campaign touting the Caribbean island chain as the perfect destination wedding locale.
In addition to Carey and Cannon, other notables who have been married in the Bahamas include supermodel Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, NFL commentator Deion Sanders, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Robert DeNiro's son Richard DeNiro, and singer-songwriter Solange Knowles, according to the new campaign from Bahamas.com.
Meanwhile, Carey is laughing off rumors that she and Cannon are planning a $4 million wedding ceremony in New York for those guests who weren't privy to their quickie island nuptials. In a statement to MTV.co.uk she writes, "4 milly? (million) On what? Cake? Lol (laugh out loud)." But the singer did not deny that another ceremony is in the works for this summer. (KBS Radio)
