Carey breaks record

With less than a decade showbiz to her name, Mariah Carey, 29, has broken a long-standing record made by the Beatles. She is now the artist who has spent the most number of weeks at Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.

Carey's latest single, Heartbreaker, from her new album Rainbow, spent its second week at the top spot last week. This means the voluptous singer has had songs at #1 for 60 weeks. This remarkable feat surpasses the Beatles' 59-week record.

With Heartbreaker being Careys' 14th #1 single, the singer has also claimed the title of female artiste with the most number of hit singles. Ice Queen of Pop, Madonna, has only 11 #1 hit singles in her Prada bag.

To date, Carey, who was once married to Sony Music Boss Tommy Mottola and is now swinging single, has sold more than 115 million records worlwide.

Rainbow will be released in Singapore on Nov. 1, just one day before it hits the music stores in United States and Canada.
