Kids of 6 want the star look

A new study found almost two thirds of kids want bronzed skin - and four in ten sunbathe "as often as possible". Researchers quizzed 1,000 six to 16-year-olds. They found 48 per cent want to look like tanned stars such as Jordan and Cheryl Cole.
Over half said it was "more fashionable" to be tanned than pale. Sixty per cent felt better when they had a tan and 41 per cent felt "thinner". One fifth sunbathed without suntan lotion to "get brown quicker". A further 17 per cent used body lotions and oils instead of sun cream. A spokesman for Superdrug, behind the survey, said: "Kids are damaging their future health." US studies show childhood sunburns are more than twice as likely to lead to skin cancer.
