Mariah Christmas flash mob at Zagreb holiday market
Mariah Carey might be surprised just how much her fans will do with her music. Yesterday, in an organized event in Zagreb, Croatia the fans of the popular entertainer, staged a well rehearsed flash mob to her song "All I want for Christmas is you". One of the young ladies who was part of the project was kind enough to tell us how this all came about to become an Internet video sensation.
Starting in a massive market, a flash mob crowd quickly comes together to start moving and shaking to the Mariah Carey song. Noticeably different than the shoppers, most of the flashmob participants were wearing Santa hats or the color red and gathered near the Christmas tree that was in the center of the staged area. Then the flash mob started seriously moving in rhythmic patterns as the song played.
"We got together yesterday to celebrate the holiday. Friends, cousins and even neighbors came to the Square," says Anka who gave us a glimpse about the experience in an online chat exchange this evening. She was at the holiday celebration and loved the chance to be dancing in the streets. Practicing for the event for several days, Anka said it made it feel warmer than it was outside in the chilly weather at the market. "It was great fun."
The idea of a flashmob to Mariah Carey's music isn't new, yet the single, "All I want for Christmas is you" as the anthem for such holiday tactics is catching on big time. There have been flash mobs doing the same thing here in the United States but not with as many people. This idea has become a trend of the Christmas season and it gives people a chance to get together and perform as friends in front of strangers. (Examiner)
