As someone who is in the 18-24 demographic, I can say that generally, we are very open to any good music, no matter if the artist is well-established or new. The only problem is Mariah is fully promoted as a legacy artist now - and at a very specific time at that (Christmas). But take the Caution album for example - the songs itself have hit potential, it's just that the team picked the wrong singles and the promotion seemed a little lacking. The way I see it, Mariah is back in the good graces of the public, seeing how well-loved even her AI cover of the JT song I posted earlier (it is currently on its way to blowing up on TikTok), as well as just how often her back catalogue blows up on TikTok. Her songs still resonate with the public and it shows, and the public even loves her current voice (see my point about the current AI cover that is blowing up - the AI model was made with Mariah's current voice). As long as her team plays their cards right and Mariah stops being so wooden on the stage, I believe a top 10 hit might be in the works, in the shape of a catchy midtempo R&B song that our Mimi seems to love so much.

True, musically it's more Gaga and Madonna, but I think we'll be surprised. Mariah doesn't commit to projects she's not feeling. She must have seen potential in order to do it. And like you said we forget Mariah has been doing dance remixes with Morales and others since the 90s. While I understand some Ariantors may have wanted others, I think a lot of them will support because Ariana is so inspired by Mariah and this is her dream come true.

I think we over estimate the current market. I believe even if Mariah were to have released one of her signature hits today - bonafide hits such as Dreamlover, Always Be My Baby, Honey, My All, Fantasy etc - she would struggle to crack the top 20 of the BB Hot 100. Mass market is not going to stream or download her enough today to make her break the top 10. I hope I'm proven wrong ofcourse but I'll just be happy with new music - not holding my breath for her to receive crazy commercial success again. Which is why I feel she has not been putting out much music lately - general audience not loving her enough anymore plus lack of label support/faith in her.

I love it. I would've been over the moon if this were her first single off MC16. I also feel it is very Mariah. Which makes me wonder. Wouldn't this sound mean that she's continuing in her same mid tempo R&B comfort zone though? I believe she will experiment and explore different sounds but I don't think she'll stray too far from who she is as an artist.

Whereas Madonna or Gaga would've been better suited for the remix of this particular song, I believe we underestimate how versatile Mariah is and how she not only reinvented remixes but she has some amazing resung dance remixes.

Also I agree Mimi L, I think they genuinely do like each other and a smart move on Mariah's part definitely. I'm not counting on this song being her 20th n1. I don't think the remix will take over the original and there won't be so much love from Arianators as with a new single. Also, apparently half of Ariana's fanbase isn't happy about Mariah being on the remix, they wanted someone else.

Nonetheless I am still super excited to hear it tomorrow. She definitely will elevate it like she did Big Energy. I fear it might meet the same fate chartwise. Still, will be good to get some more spotlight on Mariah. Looks like her new single will drop a month or so later now.

I'm with you on that boat, it says "Ariana Grande with Mariah Carey", not Ariana Grande featuring Mariah Carey. So the credit will be 50-50, also I saw this morning that people are saying the remix will be an old fashioned remix which is completely reworked and that Mariah will have writing and producing credits and a verse of her own. Last but not the least guys this might be one of our last chances to get that #1 or at least get a successful song that leads to great promo for her next album, let's support our girl. The Arianators are gearing up so we should do the same. We've been asking Mariah to step out of her comfort zone and to give us something upbeat, and she's finally doing it.

Yes I can't wait, I'm really excited for this project. Mariah can do no wrong at the moment. Her profile is in a great place and it feels like she is excited about making music again. Ariana is a great choice, she's popular and can help Mariah appeal to the younger crowd.

I understand what you mean. Unfortunately I'm not happy at all too about a feature for a Ariana song. I never liked her music and her presentation. Mariah is strong enough alone. Doing jazz music, a gospel song, a real lead single like Fantasy, Honey. So I still have to wait for new Mariah music by her own. So thank u, next becomes a whole new meaning musicwise.

I've been a fan for over 15 years but I'm not happy with the next collaboration. Ariana is a confirmed homewrecker and I'm a little disappointed in Mariah for doing a collab when all this has come out. Sorry that's my opinion.

I am also not a huge fan of the song really but chances are it'll be a reworked remix. Now about Mariah and Ariana not liking each other, my opinion is it's not true. Ariana clearly idolizes Mariah and this isn't new. Even in her documentary she gets emotional when Mariah's team contacts her to be on her video. And as for Mariah, I feel like she doesn't really bother to mingle with people she doesn't care for. In the beginning she probably wasn't pleased because of the blatant "next Mariah" label that was pushed for Ariana's launch. But over the years I think that changed. Lastly in my opinion at this point everything is fair game, the music industry is no longer the same, you gotta play the game so if Mariah is using her connections to gain newer audience, then why not? In fact it's smart right before the next album. It's smart business move. Also I don't know how true this is but I saw somewhere that it's actually the opposite and because Ariana got a lot of recent backlash for getting with Ethan Slater she lost goodwill and her single didn't do well (despite being #1) so they're bringing on Mariah to boost Ariana too. Mariah still has a lot of pull whenever Ariana and Mariah are mentioned together it does lead to a lot of publicity so I think it is benefitting them both. Why else would Ariana push this so hard with the physical CDs, the coordinated profile picture change, a rumored live performance?

I should and thought I would be excited about the news of a Mariah and Ariana collaboration, but my feelings are a bit conflicted really. I actually don't think Mariah and Ariana like each other that much, and I feel Mariah only does this to get noticed more by a younger crowd, and mayby hope that it would be a hit like Big Energy (Remix). And all of those things are positive, but my gut feeling is that this remix will pass away fast. I might be wrong.
