Re: With You (87,394) (87,398) by Robert-Anthony from United States
I am surprise too that it did so well. I think Urban AC played it in rotation so much because of the Epic radio deal. If the A No No remix didn't happen, I hope Epic releases 8th Grade. It would be most logical 2nd single release for Valentine's Day and the Caution World Tour promotion. If we don't get a 2nd single by January 25th, Caution will fade into eternity.

Re: With You (87,394) (87,397) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
I know you're trying to see the positive, but With You is a big flop. It never entered Billboard's Hot 100, and the only country where it entered the regular charts is Hungary. No 8 on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs is not impressive, nor 12 weeks on that chart (Queen Naija is 19 weeks on the chart and is currently at No 1; H.E.R. is 38 weeks on the chart and is currently at No 5).

Missing Columbia cassettes (87,396) by Robert-Anthony from United States
As I anxiously await my Caution cassette, there are 3 Columbia cassettes that I don't have in my collection. They are MTV Unplugged, Butterfly, and Rainbow. They are the only ones I haven't been able to find in thrift and used music stores. I refused to pay some of the prices listed on Ebay. Does anybody have those 3 cassettes? It seems like not too many were manufactured. I can't find them at all in stores. I have #1's on cassette.

With You (87,394) by B from USA
After peaking and holding steady at #8 for weeks on Billboard's Adult R&B Songs chart it fell to #9 this week. It's spent the last month 12 weeks on the chart. Far from the failure some seem to think it is.

Mariah has never released a bad album in my opinion. Memoirs is my least favorite album but it still has moments of brilliance like H.A.T.E.U..

Re: Andrew gone (87,383) (87,390) by Bill from the UK
I do agree it is great that MC is still making amazing music. Caution is a brilliant album and something new and fresh, and we're luckily she's hasn't spiralled down into cult irrelevance. But maybe it's a sign of my tastes, and as much as I love Giving Me Life and think it's one of the best things she's written in years, I'd rather play The Roof you know?

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,385) (87,389) by Bill from the UK
What a great post, and I agree age doesn't account for taste. I'm only 30 (only, ha) but Mariah is the only current artist I listen to. I lost interest on everything beyond the late 90s when chart music took a downward spiral. In my day the top ten would be a ballad, a disco song, a club tune, a rock song, a goofy song etc. and it would be evenly distributed amongst current acts, established acts from decades earlier, and one hit wonders - the majority of whom were very talented in their genre. Now it seems to be all the same people releasing an endless array of singles with a guest rapper thrown on top (thanks Mariah lol). I really admired Maria for taking the stance she did. And don't get me wrong, she's of course listened to Caution and all the others to see what she's up to, but as she said to me when I last saw her, "it's no Vision of Love".

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,381) (87,385) by Licia from USA
I agree Bill. I'm not understanding why your friend got attacked for doing exactly what she was supposed to do which was walk away from an artist that no longer provided the music she wanted. Good for her for sticking to what she likes. Lord knows after Music Box I was done. I also don't understand why this person keeps bringing age into it. I'm an old fan from the beginning and I like alot of stuff from Rainbow up to now, but if it's sh*t music I'm not buying. Regardless of whether your super fandom will allow you admit it, there have been many moments where Mariah has given us sh*t. Age has nothing to do with knowing what's good and what's crap. Perhaps if the newer fan base could distinguish between the two then we wouldn't have so much crap being played on the radio. Furthermore I refuse to take music advice from a generation of fans who don't even buy the music.

She looked ok, but the voice was not good, especially after having "extreme vocal rest".

That's really interesting. She's strictly a 90's fan, huh? Well, the best part of us as fans is that we all enjoy Mariah differently. I, for one, am amazed at how there are people who can say they are strictly a Mariah fan of a certain era only. I guess it's easier to pick and choose your favorite parts of an artist's career if that artist isn't as brilliant as Mariah, who, even at her worst, is still listenable. Even fellow legends have really questionable/bad albums in their discography which one would only own if they were either superfans or just being ironic (Janet has her pre-Control records; most of George's earlier Wham! material was horrible; Whitney's post-My Love Is Your Love albums can be quite a pain to listen to due to the sharp drop in quality of both the material and her voice; you understand exactly why What's Going On, Let's Get It On, Here My Dear and I Want You are considered the classics that they are compared to much of his other material). It's rare to find an artist who is capable of coming up with something like Giving Me Life almost 30 years after her brilliant debut.

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,374) (87,381) by Bill from the UK
Maria has of course heard MC's new music, but it's just not to her tastes. She was a fan since day one, hearing Vision of Love on the radio. She is a fan of those big voiced balladeers and Mariah simply isn't that anymore. It was bringing her down and frustrating her. So many people tell others to stop listening to Mariah and stop posting about her and stay in the 90s bubble, and that's what she did lol. And even after taking that advice she still gets attacked all these years later lol. She'll find this so funny.

The Roof (87,377) by B from USA
I just rewatched Mariah's Genius interview and while discussing The Roof she said that the song is based on a true story which she is planning on including in her memoirs. I can't wait to hear the story behind one of Mariah's best songs.

I ordered the white Caution hoodie with the digital download and they sent me the hoodie two weeks late from when they said I would get it back in November. To top things off, I open it and her picture was missing on the back. I had to fight with them for a refund and I'm going over three weeks now waiting for my $50 refund.

Mariah the living legend (87,374) by We are Lambily from USA
Bill, I truly feel so sorry for your friend Maria, imagine not listening to anything after the 90s, I guess she didn't really like Rainbow and Butterfly either, because that sound Mariah continued mostly on, but she has in multiple occasions done something for the 90s fans, Emancipation of Mimi is really that chick. R&b/hiphop are my fave genres and has always been. That's why I when I first heard of Mariah, I got kinda stuck on her quickly, she gave me life and it's everything. My fave Mariah albums are [...] the debut, "btw not in that order". There is honestly not many songs I don't enjoy and none that I hate. I love playing 99.9% of her work. I still play at occasions and I love love love Live with Kelly performance. Caution is also the bomb, it was a long time ago I played a Mariah album this many times in a loop without any other music. Butterfly is the closest. And MIAM since it was my first era as a lamb, but my first song was Triumphant and all of my friends loved it "even the straights" so I played it 24/7. They also like "single material". Anyways the point is there is a huge difference in the albums/songs we like of Mariah and honesty no shade but age and something else's has a lot to do with it.
