Re: Did anybody catch the shade? (98,621) (98,627) by Stacey from USA
Mariah got this wrong. Period.

We really shouldn't assume what is and isn't being dropped at Mariah's doorstep these days. It may actually have been shade to another baby mama, not necessarily Nick.

Re: Did anybody catch the shade? (98,621) (98,625) by Edward from USA
Mariah doesn't have to emphasize anything to show her kids or anybody how good of a mother she is, she was being shady, that comment was simply uncalled for, especially knowing Nick is not her effing husband. It's not like he'll be shoving his tribe of kids and baby mamas down her throat. We know Mariah is a great mother by her actions, evidenced by how happy and well taken care of her kids are, period. As Stacey stated, whether she likes it or not, those kids are her kids' siblings and always will be. Trying to justify a comment like that with some explanation that seemed to have been pulled out of someone's ass doesn't cut it. I'm pretty sure if Mariah put a collection of farts in the studio, we would all find the beauty in them, and some would emphasize how even when farting she's in perfect pitch.

Rarities 2 (98,624) by Robert-Anthony from United States
I wonder what songs are going to be on this second collection of rarities. I am hoping for leftover tracks like Reaching For The Sky, Yours ft. Justin Timberlake, the rumoured The Runners tracks, and Skydiving. It is going to be interesting to see the tracklisting.

Love that song. Also a shame that they could've done so much with the videos and ended up with a disappointing one. I absolutely love the shots of Mariah in the rainforest. Stunning visuals. They could've played more on the little mermaid theme they were clearly trying to go for.

You're Mine (Eternal) (98,622) by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia
I always thought this song could have been a hit song, or maybe a moderate hit song, if only Mariah perform this song during the song's promotional appearances. In 2014, Mariah made several promo appearances for this song and album, and yet she never performed this song. She went to 106 and Park, MTV First, David Letterman, Today Show, World Music Awards, and NBC Special At Home In Concert. Mariah even went to the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon just to throw money on him (a prank, of course, to congratulate him in his show) without having to perform nor giving interview for the album. If only she took the effort to perform this song live on all those appearances then this song would definitely have more chances to be a hit song. Such a waste of opportunity. The main reason why We Belong Together became a big hit in 2005 was because she took the opportunity to sing live on all the appearances. The only live performance she did for You're Mine (Eternal) was at BET Honors.

Re: Did anybody catch the shade? (98,619) (98,621) by Geronimo from USA
I agree with you that Morrocan and Monroe will need to get along with their father's children as half siblings. But it is Mariah Carey's job to emphasize to her two children that they are the only ones with which she is concerned in any significant way. It might be a different story if Maria [sic] and Nick were still married and his children with another woman lived part of the time in Maria's [sic] house. But Nick's other children have mothers of their own. Those mothers feel the same way about their children as Mariah feels about her own children. Complex family units can be very confusing if parents don't make their priorities crystal clear. If all the children feel secure and loved by their respective parents, then they will have no reason to compete with each other and they can get on well. I think that's healthy.

Re: Did anybody catch the shade? (98,617) (98,620) by Geronimo from USA
I think you misunderstand her meaning. She is affirming the centrality of her own children in her life amidst the relative marginality of the children that her ex-husband has had outside the family circle that Monroe and Moroccan originally enjoyed as there "native unit", so to speak. It's a loving thing for her to affirm and prioritize her own children and doing so in the manner that she did does not amount to an incapacity with regard to children on the periphery of her life. But she did establish a rank and that is appropriate given their increasingly complex family context, in my opinion.

Bless those of us who threw away our rose colored sunglasses a long time ago. Those other kids are Roc and Roe's half siblings whether MC wants to acknowledge it or not. That's a fact. Mariah got this wrong. Period.

Re: Did anybody catch the shade? (98,617) (98,618) by Robert-Anthony from United States
I think it may have been a hot moment comment because Nick has had so many children by so many different women. MC has a kind giving spirit and I don't think she would mistreat Nick's other children if they were all in her presence with Roc and Roe. She loves Allison's son Shawn.

Re: Did anybody catch the shade? (98,616) (98,617) by Edward from USA
Some people find it funny and stuff, but to me that comment was rather disgusting, because she's basically saying she doesn't acknowledge, and is incapable of loving, any other kids besides hers, which is patheric and ridiculous. But oh well, if Mariah said it, it's funny, cool, deep and all.

I'd be horrified if my mother said this, referring to my dad and half siblings.

No shade, just mature parenting (98,615) by Geronimo from USA
It was great to see MC take the moment to affirm her children (in public and in their presence). Of course it's cute and fun for Mariah to "shade" that other entertainer who she doesn't know. But she's too mature to disrespect her family by confusing entertainment and branding with real life and I was happy to see that.

Re: Twitter Spaces (98,612) (98,614) by Will from England
One thing that stood out to me most was her openly talking about the upcoming projects that would be for her legacy. To me, that's the first time she really has openly talked about her legacy, and how she is now actively thinking about what comes next to build upon it and controlling that narrative rather than leaving it until later. It shows that, from my perspective at least, she isn't focused on having a chart hit, but just creating music that she enjoys.

Did anybody catch the shade? (98,613) by The Real Deal from USA
Did anybody catch the shade on Twitter Spaces conversation where she talked about Roc n Roe and she said "These are my only children. And the only children that I acknowledge and love. Understand?" If that wasn't a direct diss to Nick, his baby mamas and seeds, then I don't know what is!

Re: Twitter Spaces (98,609) (98,612) by Libra Lamb from USA
I am so excited about new music coming soon, though it's not soon enough, I want it like yesterday. I never knew There For Me was written for the lambily and the fans, I just learned it from Mariah herself. Now I love that song even more. She sounds very genuine and happy about talking to the lambs and she's feeling that mutual love and support. I think I fell in love with her more, you can hear during the chat that she's just a deep soul and a human being just like you and I. We love you Mariah. And we appreciate you.

Re: Twitter Spaces (98,609) (98,611) by Manuel from Germany
Also, what I found was really interesting is how at the end, when the connection had broken down, she said "ok, bye". I feel like that is the real Mariah. It kind of reminded me of that insecure side she showed a lot more during the 90s. Or also when toward the end she said how much she appreciated the fans, and her voice became very soft and not so over-to-top. I feel like that is Mariah the human, and it was so refreshing to hear that side of her, because it makes her so much more tangible than "the diva" (though we love her too).

What I feel I got from her was a sense of a very youthful spirit but I also hear a lot of hurt inside her. I hear that the voice is still 100% there (still not over the "nobody can take your place"), but it is worn and her struggles are reflected more in it. And she seems so vulnerable, while still very powerful. I actually cried a lot during the interview because I was listening to the woman who was a part of every moment of my life - my coming-out, struggles with mental health, breakups, lovers, self-empowerment, fun nights out, introspection - and at the end of the day she is just a human being with cracks and quirks that has given her all to her fans who hold her to such a high standard 30 years into her career.

I hope she knows that all these complexities and maybe even contradictions make her so beautiful and I think we are all here for it! We love the real Mariah, she is so much more relatable than the celebrity who repeats a million times somewhat incohesively how much she loves everyone and how excited she is for things she cannot disclose yet etc. Didn't you also think that sometimes she was just rambling?

The memoirs, her coming-out as bipolar, the Rarities were all big moments of her shedding her past and so much weight. I truly wish her healing from whatever hurt she has inside her (because it's obvious), and I hope that she finds love and trust and ease in her life. She deserves it so much for everything she has given to us! My life would surely not be the same without her in it. Love you Mimi.

Twitter Spaces (98,609) by Manuel from Germany
Hey lambily! The Glitter edition of Twitter Spaces from 2 days ago is still on my mind and I wanted to hear your thoughts about it. I feel like this was the most real Mariah has been in many years (apart from her memoires) speaking publicly and just actually being herself. I heard a lot of excitement in her, a lot of humor, a lot of perseverance, and a lot of gratitude for the lambily.

But here is what I am thinking about: since I am German, I am not so familiar with "Americanisms" (only through media "celebrity culture"). And at times, Mariah seemed very "American" to me, as in super polite, repeating niceties with a sugar-coated sweetness, but also "going on a tangent". So is that something "American"? Or is she showing an even insecure side? I mean, at the same time, she was very genuinely present, and seemed to really care about being there for us and even singing Glitter songs! I mean OMG! When she belted from "Never Too Far" I was hearing Glitter Mariah with just as much soul, but with even more spirit.

Anyway, now I am on a tangent. Let me know how you perceived this moment dahlings. Cheers!

What other artist has fans like MC. We are her ride or die fans. We are her biggest critics. It is a great time to be a Lamb. The voice is back. I am excited for her goodies coming.

Wow. I hope it's a Glitter anniversary special. Remix EPs for Loverboy and Never Too Far/Hero, the videos finally released properly in HD, the album on vinyl, and those blanked out tracks she posted at the beginning of MC30 released.

But it's probably a new batch of cookies or a perfume lol.
