New single (106,092) by Shezz from Pk
The fan account did say the next day it was an April Fools thing. The insider account says she is set to make her long awaited come back this month. I hope that means a single, not her Vegas residency because she has been performing. Also, the insider says MC16 is a return to pop for MC with a lot of uptempo, disco and euro dance numbers. I hope that's true. She's not gotten anywhere with her midtempo RnB for a while now. Butterfly Lounge on the other hand is a total jazz project. How exciting is that? I have a feeling she will drop something soon either right before or right after Vegas.

The Rarities 2 would make sense to release this year. PTC was written in 2009 which makes me think it was written for Memoirs. She would need to include songs written around from 2009 through 2020 with three or four new songs after the pandemic. PTC is a dance track and would be the perfect kick off for TCOM shows.

Panic in the City is an old hat. Or she's going to release some unreleased stuff. I'm hearing The Rarities Part 2 if it's true.

Mimi has definitely been up to something with the posting of those beautiful pictures. I am down for PTC which JD and MC talked about on Twitter in 2011. A JD track is probably what she needs to end her long absence from radio.

So I saw this post on Twitter saying her new single is gonna drop on Friday entitled "Panic The City". Any of you guys see something similar to this? It was by one of her "Lambies" accounts that may have insider information.

I think you hit the nail on the head Joachim. I never really pieced it together but it makes sense the way you explained it. I happen to love Charmbracelet because the songwriting was phenomenal and the melodies were great even though it was not a typical Mariah Carey album. Also wrong single choices. But not everyone has heard of it or given the album a fair chance. I Only Wanted, Subtle Invitation, Miss you ( feat. Jadakiss) and The One (both original and So So Def Remix) are my favorites. Shout out to Got a Thing 4 U.

Academy recognising Glitter (106,084) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I actually think the reason why Mariah sounds so restricted on Charmbracelet had everything to do with Glitter and her breakdown. I think she felt the world really was tired of everything Mariah, especially her voice, many people back then complained that she was just shouting, not that this had anything to do with reality. Mariah was overexposed after the 90's, much like the risk Taylor Swift is taking now.

Charmbracelet shows a Mariah that is scared to annoy or pushing more people away, almost to the point of self extinction. She did exactly what people wanted her to, become a shadow of her self, almost a different artist singing wise. Well, we all know how that turned out, it's her most forgotten and least interesting album, only positive is that it felt really personal. I'm glad she came back in 2005 wanting nothing else than to be herself, showcasing every part of her voice. If you can sing like Mariah Carey, why would you ever try to disguise that?

Yes, I like this new found confidence shown during the past 3 weeks. I hope she records the TCOM shows for a DVD later this year.

Taking risks (106,082) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I love that Mariah is feeling herself. She is taking small risks personally that she said she would never do. Like being photographed from her "bad side", jumping on Ariana's remix and now sporting a red lip. I remember her saying multiple times she doesn't wear red lipstick because it doesn't suit her yet here we have her this year posting 2 photos wearing it. Glad to see she's taking over her insecurities one small thing at a time.

I'm convinced she's a vampire. There's no other explanation for anyone eternally looking that young and fresh. Obviously I'm joking but whatever she's doing, it looks good on her. She looks radiant and beautiful.

Mimi, your post made me listen to Glitter in its entirety today. Glitter is in MC's top 5 of vocally amazing work of art. So, what happened to her voice that she couldn't produced those same type of vocals on Charmbraclet? I don't think it had anything to do with her breakdown. Was it the lazy production on Charmbraclet? Was it the choice of producers who really didn't know how to give MC the best chords and arrangements?

This was awesome to see. Thanks for posting the clip. I hope eventually Mariah embraces the film more like she did the soundtrack. I noticed she liked the post on IG. I'm still holding my breath for a re-release with tons of bonus content and the digital version. Justice for Glitter, again. Fingers crossed.

That's true. Mariah has the best remixes. My favourite (or at least one of them) is Dreamlover Def Club Mix Edit. But there are to many to choose from.

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,075) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
The score for fame and popularity is based on surveys, they ask a random selection of people every quarter, so it's not a ranking based on opinion.

From your lips to God's ears. We would love a duets album. Fall time, definitely before November 1st (it's tiiiiiime) would be a perfect release time. I've always wanted Janet and Mariah on the same track, amongst other great artists.

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,073) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Yes it's not completely surprising that Mariah is ranked above Taylor. Taylor is current news, Mariah is eternal news. Since her debut she's been relevant and in headlines whether it's because of her voice, her changing musical genre, her changing looks, her up and down with Tommy, her breakdown, her shades, her #1s and her Christmas dominance. Mariah may not sell as much nowadays but her accumulated relevance is major and of course she's had more years than Taylor. Let's not forget that even though Taylor is untouchable now this wasn't the case before. So spent a majority of her career being considered a "teen icon" and then with the Kanye and Famous drama everyone dropped her. It took her years to build up to the fame she has now and finally now she's broken out of the "teen market" too mass market. Let's also not forget that just a few years back Taylor had to release 100 versions of 1 single to compete with a 20 year old Christmas song only to be dropped after 1 week. Even now she is setting up the release of her next album with 4-5 different versions and no this isn't a "deluxe" or "extended" version like every artist does. She is putting 1 exclusive song in each album to nudge her fans to buy all to "complete their collection". Taylor undoubtedly is a massive player in the music industry and thank God she's talented but Mariah is in a legends zone.

Great news. I hope Mimi drops a collaboration album this fall. It makes perfect sense at stage in her career. All of the legends have done it from Lionel Richie to Barb[a]ra Streisand to Carlos Santana to Smokey Robinson. It would be a great prelude to her annual Christmas season reign.

Mariah Carey was working hard to get her debut album out when Taylor Swift was in infant diapers, I'd say she's got a lot more years on her and more people know her impressive body of work than Taylor Swift's. I'm not denying the star power of Taylor at all, I think she's phenomenal even though I personally don't care for her music. And also I don't know how they measured the popularity contest. I'm just saying that I bet the article is right to place MC ahead of her. We love everybody.

Apparently "The Butterfly Lounge" has not been abandoned and features a host of collaborations from legends to the younger ones with some unexpected ones.

Lord only knows when any of these projects will see the light of day. I wish she had picked one project to focus on and not so many simultaneously.

According to the insider, a Shawn Mendes collaboration was recorded a year ago and she is working on something with Janet Jackson as well. Maybe it's a duets album. After so many commercially failed projects I'm sure she's doing something different this time. Mimi doesn't like to fail.

That Beyonce and Miley duet should have been Mariah and Miley on a song. MC needs a collaborator whose voice is unlike hers just spark interest for a new album. I feel their voices would sound good on a song with the right melody, lyrics and producer. Maybe it will happen soon.
