About Marcel from Montréal, Canada: what can I say?

Re: I'm going to reply (57,403) (57,411) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
You're right Randy. In [...] opinion she had problems after each tour: 1993 was great but singing those [...] songs live was too much for her and 94 showed us a MC changing the key to her songs [...] the first time. Still [...]. Daydream was the same and after the mini tour she suffered even more but still good. 97 the first recordings were the best vocals to me: WYC, MA, Out [...] 4th July. But there's the answer she was always making fun of how much Crystal, Moet she drank during those other recordings and the weird laugh laugh environment she was at while recording Breakdown "the smoky studio" and partying night after night drinking and don't know if more. The last recording CME shows a more raspy tone. To me it was that: she felt free and drank too much and if not doing drugs herself she was certainly surrounded by that [...]. And if you listened to her brother Morgan little interview for Radar Online he - obviously for a good check - speaks about how big her alcohol problems are ever since Tommy (97) that he can't recall a single day Mariah is not with a glass of alcohol in her hand and that since 2001 she's been dangerously mixing it with [...] meds she takes in order to control her diagnozed bipolarity. You might say he lies and such but we all have heard the difference since 97 specifically. He says he's truly afraid MC becomes the next Whitney or MJ because she just listen to her yes people and believes that rules of physics don't apply to her just because she is Mariah Carey. Sad but I think that yes, she pushed her voice beyond her own limits but that isn't the cause of her vocal problems, to me even paid for the note, what Morgan says is closer to what really happens. Hope she gets the help and loving care she desperately needs.

Re: Article: Mariah Carey explains album delay in letter to fans (57,229) (57,249) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I guess Randy's Q was meant in a different way, 90's Mariah on 2015 MC. I think Randy was having more of a deep thinking here. It's like we can all look back on us and be like wish I had done this or hadn't done that but the wish I had (not) is something that really doesn't exists since we cannot change past. What if being in lets say October 1993 for example and some sort of "Christmas ghosts" would show up to MC and let her envision her own self through the years to come and what would that 1993 Mariah would be like on her own self. What would she say, what would she think, what'd she do, what would she avoid doing, what would she think twice before acting/doing/trying/saying something. It'd be a very interesting exercise to do for anyone: try to position yourself on a younger era when you were living the best time of your life (that's why I said Oct 1993 as an example) and then try to analyse everything from that perspective on and keeping it true to your own back then self. Imho she wouldn't be as proud as she says she is of what she's done like must of us wouldn't as well. It'd be pretty surprising how many things you, just like in the movie, would start doing differently and that kind of envision when keeping it true to that starting point can really, even knowing you cannot change what's already been done, help you implementing some changes on your life cause it's never too late to start doing something that is for good.

Re: Reading too much into something (57,061) (57,072) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Don't know but KB should put the same effort and artistry he puts while applying his own make-up when he's doing Mariah's. I know everybody has a different taste and seem to see things differently but to me Mariah has looked the same - make-up wise - for like 10 long years now. I read Mariah saying she doesn't like the heroine look and to me I guess those who styled her back from Music Box to just the beggining of the Butterfly era were the best. Those looks obviously meeting 2015 should fit her better IMO. In that last picture as someone said, she looks like in technicolor like 10 years older.

Re: Petals (57,025) (57,070) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Of course Valentine is Tommy. That was like his nickname when [...] younger. I don't recall Walter selling any stories. Actually if he's done something is to always be very positive on Mariah. He said their "silly fight" as he mentioned it, was because Mariah wanted him to take on her side and break with Tommy and he couldn't because by the time Tommy was his boss and he had legal ties but other than that, he's been quite nice on her and even quite open to work again with her. He said that yes he didn't like the direction she was heading to and kinda said indirectelly he was worried MC wasn't taking good care of her voice. But the only thing was he didn't want to get involved in MC's and Tommy's fight and Mariah considered that as a betrayal. He said he wished that that never happened and he still is so nice on her, something Mariah hasn't. Actually she hasn't mentioned Walter but a couple times since 97 and even then she was kinda mean to him. Whatever. I love all the songs they wrote together even that draft recording Hoy from 97 that ended up being the best IMO track on Glitter. Sorry but this iPhone tries to change every word I type into French.

Re: Mariah's vocals (57,023) (57,069) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Couldn't agree more. Music Box gave that other side that was still soulful and powerful but showed that saccarine tone as well. I love her Daydream vocals obviously but remember my older sister being like "What happened to her? Those falsettos are annoying." To me she still sounded incredible, but as you said Emotions is her best to me, hands down.

Re: Daydream (57,013) (57,068) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Hahahaha you really changed my mood [...]. Daddy didn't like his song asking for Mariah and gave him Michael Jackson instead. Hard to believe it's been 20 years now and how succesful Fantasy was. The pop version here in Montréal. Still I was too young I guess to go buying an album but then I couldn't resist it by the time ABMB came out that I bought her 3 ABMB singles: the one that has the R&B and the weird Reggae versions, the cardboard single with Slipping Away and the one with the dance mixes. After that I started buying so much CDs even though it was the summer [...] becoming a 7th grader. I bought Shakira's album in Spanish and fell in love with her but then I got like all Mariah's previous albums and singles on sale and was amazed. Remember Mix 96 playing MC all day and an old videos shown by a bold guy I guess his name was Connan on Ytv where the Forever video was played a lot. I thougth she was older. My dream was for her to appear on MusiquePlus so I'd go to Rue St Catherine and watch her. I signed to her fan club and won a ticket to be in line and have my Butterfly album signed by her a year later, down in NY though. Thank God my aunt took me down there. Loved those old days. Used to wish I'd be older (back then of course) so I could you know, live Mariah's fever as an 11th grader or college guy.

Re: Ummm, no Packer (56,890) (56,893) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
That pic seems pretty weird to me at least, like a made-up one, but what if he smokes? Not that I like that but so many people do. Like if that would hurt Mariah's voice you know, I guess in that respect it's worst every time we watch a pic or video in where Mariah herself is so happily having some (several) "splashes" as she refers to them. That certainly has been so obviously taking its toll on her.

Re: Mariah and James red carpet debut (56,859) (56,862) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Actually it is the Mexican single to Mi Todo which includes:
1. Mi Todo
2. Butterfly Meme's Extended Club Mix part 1 and 2
3. Butterfly Sambatterfly
4. Butterfly Classic Bossa Nova
5. My All
Sorry I cannot post a pic of one of my copies, it seems like this new message board provider doesn't support the Macintosh. I can't recall if they came in a cardboard or jewel case packaging, because someone I, let's say, don't appreciate at all since long ago, tore them off on one of his hormonal days. I still have the CDs though. Btw, just in case you Andrew are around. I say hello.

Patti and MC? (53,642) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I don't know if there is any bad feeling between them but I remember Patti once saying she doesn't drinks and doesn't like champagne and that Mariah kept on sending her bottles and bottles of it and jokingly asked her to please stop sending her alcohol. I gues it was on The Wendy Williams Show. Maybe Mariah didn't like those comments. Maybe I read too much as well between lines. On another matter, it is funny to me that MC says she co-wrote I Don't Wanna Cry with Narada when it's pretty well known the song was written by Walter A., and that that song was the reason why Walter called it quits with Narada (because Narada "stole" the song and gave Wallie no credit). Walter even mentioned he wrote it in LA while MC was in NY with Tommy recording the vocals to it. After that, Tommy offered Walter the opportunity to start as a solo writer and producer if he would be able to write a monster-hit-song for Mariah in just two days and so he wrote Love Takes Time and Tommy was so impressed by his work and asked MC to get into the studio and lay the vocals and stopped the printing of the album to now include it as the 11th track and also hired him to write primarly for Mariah and other grade A acts from Sony. Mariah tends to always ignore Walter since 1997 which to me is pretty sad. Anyway, great song no matter if MC doesn't acknowledges Walter for all of his hard work for her.

Eric (53,079) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I've always have this feeling that in this board, although with all of your sensoring, we were able to express our ideas and sometimes being insulted by certain members, you know, the real fans as they proclaim themselves but it was really sad to read you insult in a harsh way a our friend from Spain who rarely agrees (hope you're not censoring my Spanish phrase) someone who has the right to write his mind off to not penalty of being bad-mouthed from not other than (and in this case than is right not in yours that'd had been then) the webmaster himself. I just hope this board does not becomes what MariahDaily did when taken by Mariah's staff. On another topic I won't say anything about her vocals in Vegas until hq feeds are available and will actually applaud her for how she's handling interviews. She still needs to step back a bit to those days when she was clever, mature and presice but so far so good. She's kinda letting the boring diva behind and that's something even thouth the bitchy I am, I really have to recognize. I don't wanna end up being negative so I won't talk about three or four of the things she wore. Perhaps she just needs a full-body mirror and that's it. So please Eric imo you'd apologize to oops is Javier his name? Or at least re-think, read-twice before addressing members of your board, because members are the ones that make your site succeed.

Lol Lee TS (52,904) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I certainly think that you're kidding by saying Ariana and Christina should pay a visit to Mariah in Vegas. I mean, sure they both, among a lot others, have mentioned MC as one of their biggest influences (mostly Ariana) but I guess they have gotten the message quite clear: Mariah doesn't like any single female artist with a good voice. She actually hates them and have been pretty open about it always throwing shades on them (just saying shade because nobody likes to read visceral comments). The only one white female singer with a good voice that wasn't trashed by Mariah's comments was Jessica to whom she only said something on the likes of "she's like my mini-me" something that although not rude or bad, was still a bit egocentric. And lastly, Jessica was on Sony as well. I guess it must be quite sad for someone like Ariana and Christina when getting started mentioning Mariah as an inspiration and then realising that MC does not want to say anything positive about them, not even say "thanks for considering me as an influence on your singing" or something. That's why a lot of people tend to dislike her. It was like when MC was hanging phones on DJs just because she didn't want to be asked about the wedding rumour and such. You hang phones to radio DJs and they won't be playing you that much.

On the video (52,805) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Last time I recall him being late with a video was with [...] and remember it was that time in where he spent weeks editing the video trying to make her look [censored] and the result was so sad because it was so obvious that they retouched MC's body To extreme and still it looked bad. I hope this time around that is not the case. I hope this time MC is wearing clothes and in sizes that would help her look the best she can. I know we all want to look the best as possible but that is as possible, so, if she is that [censored] just embrace your true self and just dress accordingly. I think the video is too late already. The song isn't any good To me neither lirycally nor vocally but a good video can do the job. It's great a lot in here like it. It's a concern when someone like Abraham a MC-can-do-no-wrong kind of guy is so openly writting against it though. You surprised me Ab, I always thought you should be about 15-17 years old not like closer to my age. Anyway. I hope this time things goes better for her and waiting for her next song already. I hope Andrew, Trevon, etc aren't leaving the board. Please stay.

The Love Story thing (52,168) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I've been reading about this and can't get it unless you guys are just talking like from the video on. I know Nick made a cheap video to kind of showing what MC said that song had become, but that song was written and recorded and published so much before they even met. To me it was lyrically a bad version of "Now that I know". I never liked the video. Actually have never been a fan of people who are forcing you to see their couple like MC always showing Nick everywhere to publicize him, to me it was a sign, among many others, that the relationship wouldn't last. Maybe it's just that I like people that take their position like when with Tommy, you know, Mariah was the star so she took the stage. He was the star-making genius behind her and there he remained, behind.

Oh dear (51,798) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
On a positive side it seems Epic believes MC can still deliver and are trying to help her out. I hope she won't throw it through the toilet like in 08. Not much impressed by the countdown. I still remember the fiasco of Summer of 2012 campaign. Le bénéfice du doute is fair and I'm giving it to them. Wish her luck. On the other side, last year MC's overly photoshopped cover was a daily joke. This new cover went even further. She's never looked like that. Rainbow's pic was more realistic than this. Don't like them promoting someone's album with someone else's picture on it. Also if they want to promote her residency with this release, why [...] they dropping it at halfway of it? If it's to give MC the chance to promote the only new track in it, it's still way too late, because single and video will be a month old by then. I'd like to know with whom she worked for this single. Was it JD once again? Anyway, good video/promo can take a so-so song to #1 just like they did with TMB in 08. I'm not buying the full album since I already got all those songs in every possible version. Certainly I'll be buying the new single. Had it included 5 new tracks then it'd be worth buying it as a whole than the singles separately. Someday from MTV and Fantasy ODB, why? Those weren't the Hot 100 #1 versions. I like ODB but love the pop version much more. Even though here in Quebec both versions went #1 on different lists, the pop version was the real thing. Good for those of you that are buying the whole album though.

Difficult to read (51,342) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Daily Mail isn't exactly trustworthy but ocassionally they write a real note but slightly exagerated lol. What gets me curious is why is MC always that afraid of what people has to say about her? It isn't nice that someone spills out your dirty nasty things or even lies, but she used to know by being a public person she did put herself in that possition. I don't believe this rumor and surely her lawyers will again stop that from happening. After visiting the 7 temples I wanted to read and it was a hard task to do: almost all of the interesting posts, like Andrew's were full of censored phrases and that's a pity because Eric I guess you're going a bit too far with your censoring, you even censored my word "management". I wrote mngmnt team but, what's the point? By the way, I am sorry that due to this messageboard's censoring I won't be able to let Abraham know what uses to go up my places. Sorry Ab, you'll have to keep on yearning to eventually get to get one, even if you'd have to pay for it. Maybe that's what you need in order to stop being that annoyingly "positive" and start facing reality.

Mariah (51,250) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I think she's not dating Brett but you have to remember back in 08 no one believed she'd married that thug Nick when she actually did it. If they're together, good for them but, who needs a relationship anyway? She doesn't need that. Someone said MC wouldn't date a guy who sports a homeless look lol, what about Nick's vulgar look? What about Mariah's look for God's sake? The dated extensions, untrendy blond, the so unnatural tanned make-up and always, no matter where, [censored] that's not precisely the nicest look. Also, don't know why she hasn't been able to drop those extra kilos she has on. I know [censored] will always make her look heavier than her actual build but [censored]. I hope she's working on getting in shape. She's been able to do so [...]. On her career, I'm sure that if she listens to her new [...] team and takes advices she can really come back to a pretty decent point. And about the carpool thing, guess nobody wanted her to show-off vocally (like if she could) but she should've sung like anyother singer would have. To me she had that nervous look in her eyes like "I won't be able" and guess that's why she started the skit as usual: "I won't be singing because I've had no sleep" or "I have a cold", you know, that tired excuse of hers. Anyway, good to know she has plenty of plans for 2015 other than the Vegas thing and hope, really deeply hope this time around it turns out good for her and as consequence, for us.

Need to learn from you, guys (51,189) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I have to learn from you how to be that positive always finding great things out of whatever happens. I watched her on CBS and to me she wasn't any fun, at least she wasn't a bore and annoying though, but what surprises me the most is that you guys applaud her "singing" when she, as usual, had an excuse for not singing, she just tried to no success to harmonize to VOL and a few raspy notes to Thirsty. Incredibly James Corden did a better job at singing that MC even though he was just trying to be cool and funny. Anyway, nice to know that most of you think it was a great way for MC to regain credibility. I assume It's just that I'm such a bitchy acid revoltuous Québécois trying to bring negativity to everybody. By the way, still time to wish her a very happy 45th birthday. Oh, to the one who asked when MC said that about smoking, she said that happened when she was just a teen, can't recall at what age but somewhere around 14-16. Never heard about getting back octaves, she just said she recovered her clarity and power. That's the nice thing of being that young. By age 27 I guess it wasn't that easy or she didn't pray that much.

Unreleased tracks (51,004) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I've been having this feeling that MC herself has been behind some of these later "leaks" or "rare videos" we've found, like the original MTV Unplugged recordings, her VOL on Good Morning 90 (the great quality one), etc., maybe just being so lazy myself lately that I tend to make up stories. Anyway. On the other topic people's been writing about, to me a "previously unreleased tracks" album would be great. I know some people believe that's a waste and say it wouldn't sell at all because songs would sound way too dated and also that people has the perception that a track that didn't make the cut is because it wasn't good enough but I think it would do ok, not as good as a new songs album, but still good and with no extra harm to her voice. I own for example, No Doubt's "the b sides" album and it's a cool cd. And MC has proven to have excellent tracks that for whatever the reason, hadn't been included in her albums like Do You Think Of Me, Slipping Away, etc. I remember she said lot of songs were out of Music Box and some were out of her debut as well as off Daydream. It'd be cool to get to hear them. The original recordings. They might sound retro but still it'd be a pleasure to hear to, mostly those recorded before her voice miss its power and clarity. All those tracks she and Walter worked on and never saw the light would be quite appreciated. I mean, they're already recorded and no matter if they are "drafts" they'd sound great just like "Lead the Way" does.

Keep on posting Andrew (50,746) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
I really understand everything you post in here, I guess I'm most of the time agreeing on what you say and the only times I kind of dislike something is when you sort of apologise for expressing your thoughts. What you might to understand is that most of the members seem to be on their teens or early 20's, something weird because a lot of them insist they've been fans since VOL first went to radio. Anyway. I truly understand the meaning of your comment on Mariah not working with Walter just because he's not black. Sometimes it is difficult to expect teens to understand a statement and you know, this world is crazy about the race thing. Obviously it is racism when a white person mentions the black word. Never otherwise. Whatever. Great poster Andrew, I really like you as many of us do. You can notice by how many thumbs-up your posts in here. Salut.

Dubbing not resinging (48,892) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
The 93 Proctor's special was dubbed in the sense that they took the best vocal of both dates and fixed the audio auality, ambient noises, etc but there was not resinging. Same happened in 95, just one date but she performed each song at least twice until she was satisfied then the dubbing happens to "clean" audio but not cheat in there. The rest are different. She even lips on stage now and then the performance is dubbed. Quite different.

Once again (48,873) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
The race has started and they are now trying to find Mariah's next "beau" but why do they insist in tying her to the ghetto always? I mean, yes, she married that clown NC but I guess she's not going again for the same if ever going for anyone. By the way I was watching this bad movie on the Paramount Channel (The Italian Job) and I couldn't help to imagine Mariah dating either Mark Wahlberg or/and Jason Stathan lol. Well you never know and oops. I guess I am already trying to find her a man already. Well, at least these two are handsome and more age appropriate to her. Anyway, bonne année.

Mariah and Derek (48,454) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Yes, Mariah and Derek were seeing each other before the separation then divorce happened, so it means Mariah was certainly cheating on Tommy. Old news though. There was this former MC chauffeur that was about to write a book (I guess just a chapter or two, I mean I don't think you can wrote a whole book but you'd never know) about what they calles "Mariah's sexcapades" but they settled. Way back to 1996 we went. Wow.

Trying to find the pos out of it (48,335) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
First, well if you ever wished you could sing like MC, now you can. Now, in a way I guess this leak was a good thing because she really needs to face reality. If she doesn't after something as bad and public like this (even bigger than her bad performance on her latest tour) then I don't know what'd let her face it. I hate all the false support by her friends like Ms Osburne and Debbie (2 of the few white people MC follows on Twitter) because this isn't an isolated bad performance, this is like not a constant but a pretty common bad performance from her. I guess she is keeping it mute or will came out with a lame excuse like after MJ's memorial performance where she was hanging them boobs on M's coffin and missing the notes. I don't care that much if she doesn't make a statement but I hope this time she really reflects and all of these things becaming so patent and for once go and try to get the needed help. Wish her the best. Btw, with the WMA she did the same to NBC and has done that to almost every single media. It is not nice what someone did but understandable. Actually long years ago they did it to E. Iglesias and I thougth what if they'd do this to MC? Would she change?

Nikki you're totally wrong (47,784) by Marcel from Montréal, Canada
Walter Afanasieff has had a lot of success on his own. He's the composer, something Mariah is not. What you guys are writing about her (B from USA) is so false/misinformed. You'd read the truth on all that. The fight they had wasn't because of that. If the ballads on Butterfly weren't that produced was because they parted ways and he wasn't able to finish them on time. If he has expressed that he'd like to work with her again is not because he is in need. It's just that he's humble, And is open to reconcile. He has said it was a silly fight and that MC should had understood he was her friend but also a Tommy employee that couldn't take a side and support her the way she wanted him to, like leaving the label and going her way.
