About LC from USA: I am a lamb in high school and I've been a Mariah fan all my life! She is the reason I sing and write songs and she's impacted my life in so many ways.

Memoirs (56,988) by LC from USA
Happy anniversary to Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. The first album I listened to in full as a lamb. It still has some of my favorite songs by Mariah as they were all attached to a memory for me. Shout out to Obsessed, Standing O, IWTKWLI, It's A Wrap, Betcha Gon' Know, Angels Cry, UOMF, and Candy Bling. I love that album to death.

Mariah's impact (56,741) by LC from USA
I was thinking about this the other day and it just astounds me. Mariah's impact is literally omnipresent and so ubiquitous that people don't even know that today's music is the way it is because of her. There was a lamb on Twitter who solidified my point by saying something along the lines of "Mariah has such a great impact that people think this is how music always was." And now looking back, that is the complete truth. This 20 year old "trend" of blending hip hop and pop is now just the standard of music. Even to this day, the biggest songs on the charts are songs like "See You Again" and "Dark Horse" and so many more that blend rap and pop music. But while lambs and critics are aware of Fantasy's influence, Mariah isn't really given the credit by the public because the blend just seems so natural now that it seems like music has always been this way. Then there's her style of singing, which are those pretty little intricate runs and then the big voice and high notes that are the standard for which singing is judged today. She made that mainstream so that to this day, the big new "vocalists" of this generation like Ariana Grande, Tori Kelly, Jessie J, even Justin Bieber have cited her as their main influences in how they sing. And also now every mainstream pop singer makes Christmas music in an attempt to replicate the success of Merry Christmas. Yet people assume that making a Christmas album as a young pop star is just the standard thing to do. Mariah really is the blueprint for today's music and it just baffles me when I think about it because the scope of her impact is so boundless and universal that people can't even trace it back to an origin because it feels like that's how music always was. That's real impact, in my opinion.

Mandy / Webmaster (56,724) by LC from USA
Thank you Mandy. I've seriously been looking for that everywhere. That whole interview/segment was so great and so funny. Mariah looked gorgeous and was so fun. I forgot how much I loved that interview. And thank you Webmaster for the link to the champagne pong video. I'd seen that one, but I was also looking for the interview, which seems to have been taken down for some reason. Thanks lambs.

Mariah in Jimmy Fallon (56,706) by LC from USA
Curious, does anybody happen to have a link or saved file of Mariah on Jimmy Fallon in 2013? I think it was early 2013, anyway, where she was wearing the biker leather jacket and skirt. I've been searching for it on YouTube and Dailymotion and I can't find it anywhere. If anyone needs anymore clarification, it's the one where she plays champagne pong with Jimmy. Thanks guys.

Game of War (56,633) by LC from USA
This is exactly what I wanted and more. It's hilarious and so campy and so Mariah. I had trouble visualizing Mariah just recreating Kate Upton's ads as that would inevitably generate backlash, but this is perfect. It's funny and uses her music and has generated a pretty positive response so far. I hope this is just one in many more funny ads to come. Go MC.

Re: Article: Mariah's Israel show not quite living up to the "fantasy" (56,139) (56,146) by LC from USA
I completely agree with you. This article was obviously biased from the beginning paragraph, with the author detailing personal reasons that created a mess of a night for him/her. Though it wasn't her greatest show vocally, she definitely delivered. And that's just based on the videos. The crowd was literally singing every word. Even to not as huge worldwide hits like It's Like That and Obsessed. Then when the anthems came along, like Without You and Hero and My All and Vision Of Love and We Belong Together and Always Be My Baby and I'll Be There, you could hear the entire crowd feeling it and singing along to every word and ad lib. Mariah was good last night. They should give her a break.

Press conference Israel (56,125) by LC from USA
Mariah just did a press conference in Israel today and she discussed the political criticism and mentioned that she will be singing "I'll Be There" tomorrow. Also, in the article that follows, they mention that 12,000 tickets were available for the show and that they all sold out so they are waiting for the approval of 500 more tickets to be available. Congrats Mariah. Here's a small clip of it. Hopefully the full thing will be uploaded soon.

Re: Mariah album rate? (56,115) (56,123) by LC from USA
Oh no. I hope people don't think that those are my album ratings. Those were just how many songs I consider to be 10/10 on each album. There are many that are 9s and 8s for me but not perfect 10s lol. Whole album ratings would be much much higher than that.

Re: Rolling Stone/Telegraph (56,025) (56,039) by LC from USA
Thanks for the positive response everyone, and for allowing me to rant. It just disgusts me how much disrespect and flak Mariah gets after working her ass off for 25 years. Rolling Stone in particular. Do you guys remember when they had a poll for the greatest collaboration/duet of all time and the fans voted "One Sweet Day" as the winner? Their response was something along the lines of "This song definitely would not have won had the Mariah Carey fans not flooded the poll. While it hasn't stood the test of time, the fans voted for it. Who are we to say they're wrong?" What the actual fuck? And to think that they placed Mariah at #79 on the greatest singers of all time list. #79. Really? Though I would never trust a list of greatest singers that didn't include Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra. Still, disgusting. And some of the most influential songs of all time like Vision Of Love, Fantasy (Remix), All I Want For Christmas, We Belong Together... none made the 500 greatest songs. And none of Mariah's albums made the 500 greatest of all time list. They're a joke. Mariah has earned the respect of the world.

Rolling Stone/Telegraph "greatest" lists (56,010) by LC from USA
I don't know if you guys saw, but both the UK Telegraph and Rolling Stone magazine published "greatest of all time" lists recently, and Mariah is not included in any of them. The Telegraph published two, which were the 50 greatest female pop stars of all time and 50 greatest female songwriters of all time. Mariah was not included. Rolling Stone published the greatest songwriters of all time list. Mariah was not included. I am disgusted. People like Adele, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Madonna made the cut but the woman that sold 200 million albums, wrote and produced more number 1 singles than any female artist in the US and has two songs of the decade wasn't good enough? In what world is Adele a better songwriter than Mariah? In what world is Taylor Swift a better songwriter than Mariah? In what world is Lady Gaga a bigger star than Mariah? This isn't to discredit any of those artists because I respect them all, but this is just unbelievable. The best selling artist of the last 25 years and most successful female artist of all time is not featured on lists that are supposed to be unbiased and factual? This is disgusting. This just shows how there is an agenda to brush away the legacy of Mariah Carey. Call me delusional but when someone has this level of impact on music and culture, they deserve to be revered and respected. She gets so little respect in this industry even though she's outlasted and outsold more than half of them. Her influence is undeniable. Yet it is continuously downplayed. I can't believe this shit. Wow.

Why You Mad? (55,829) by LC from USA
Why you mad? I guess that's a question that applies to more than one person. I actually really like the remix. I made the mistake of reading through fan comments on this board and other forums before actually listening, and from what was said, I was really expecting that it was the worst song Mariah has ever released. But, as usual, lambs overreacted and had meltdowns over nothing. I think it's a good song. I think it's current, has a nice flow and is a vast improvement over the original. The beat is very radio friendly, the chorus is memorable as ever, and the added verses/raps give the song an edge that the original was missing. Though I wish Mariah gave herself more parts, instead of being a hook singer on her own remix, I liked each section and danced along to the beat. It knocks. It's not the best remix she's ever done, by a stretch, but it's definitely not the worst. It has radio potential. And that's coming from a teen who is actually in touch with current music. Mariah gave us the 90s/Emancipation moment we all wanted last year with MIAM, but many treated it like trash. Let's let Mariah try something new. Again, why you mad?

Mariah, Justin and French Montana (55,577) by LC from USA
I have to say this took me by complete surprise when I woke up this morning. It's kind of random, but I'm really excited. I wasn't expecting anymore new music until next year, at least and now we're getting this. At least we know that Mariah isn't ready to become the old, standard-singing balladeer that some were speculating she was gonna be. I refuse to accept her career going in that direction. She's still relevant. And, according to TMZ, this was originally just gonna be a Mariah and French song, but Justin came in, told Mariah he was a huge fan, then Mariah played it for him and he loved it so much that he recorded vocals for it right on the spot and now he's gonna be featured on the song. That's saying something. Also, the producer in the group pic is named Detail and he produced "Drunk In Love" so this song could be completely current and wonderful. I'm so excited now. Who knows, this might be the "I Know What You Want" of Mariah's new era.

Seriously, guys? (55,516) by LC from USA
Right when things are finally going up for Mariah is when the "fans" find another thing to bitch about. I could sit here and talk about each and every part of every song on every performance Mariah has done where she has lip synced. I'm sure many of us can. But this debate is so old and stupid. Why do we perpetuate the arguments and speculation? It's not going to change anything. No matter how "offended" you might be from the "deception". Stay butt hurt because it's not gonna change. Mariah lips. So does almost every singer in the industry. So what? She sings her ass off when she does sing live. We're gonna call the TGIFY performances "ok"? Seriously? Night after night she has hit multiple D5s, Eb5s and E5s and phrased with them and sustained them in ways she hasn't since 1901. She has been giving us 100%. Can't we give her props? Can't we say "Great job, Mariah." Can't we say "You did amazingly." Can't we for God's sake just be happy with our favorite singer? She just made it through arguably her toughest year and is coming out on top. We should be celebrating, not being dumb about something that's been going on for so long that it's nearly negligible. Let's be real. Mariah is slaying. No matter what you say. And I, for one, will support her instead of pulling her and the fan base down yet again. This is the return of Mariah Carey. You fans and haters can either recognize it or not, doesn't matter. Mariah always comes out on top.

Mimi L. / Lee TS (55,406) by LC from USA
Thanks, Mimi L., I agree with everything you said. That comment was definitely blown out of proportion, but I see why people would see at as offensive. Especially with Mariah's obsession with being "eternally 12" lol. Also, I think Katy and John were doing a radio interview when Katy said their duet was inspired by "Mariah's laugh at the end of her songs in 1990" which I think refers to Emotions, with Mariah's laugh after the iconic whistle riff. And thank you for the polite response, as well. You have always been a great poster and I always love to read what you have to say. Also, Lee TS, I'm assuming you think Mariah is going to portray Marilyn Monroe, right? I thought so too. However, there was a video interview posted while Mariah was in Paris of the photographer speaking about the shoot. I don't speak French at all and got this rough translation from someone else, but he said that it was inspired by "The Swing", which is that famous painting of the woman on the swing in the huge pink dress and sort of showing her undergarments. He said it was because that's the kind of sexiness and playfulness Mariah evokes. I hope someone who speaks French can help us with this. He even shows a rough sketch of the shoot, and it definitely is inspired by that 18th century beauty. This definitely will be different and not the typical Mariah beauty shot. It's Harper's Bazaar.

Mimi L. And Katy Perry shade (55,376) by LC from USA
Mimi L., I don't think that the shade to which people refer is from her song reference. In fact, I think it's a nice gesture to name drop Mariah in her song. People are referring to this video in which Katy is being interviewed in Australia, and the the interviewer asks her who she thinks is the biggest female star in the world. She then says Beyoncé, but the interviewers bring up that a twitter user said Mariah Carey was the biggest female star in the world, which they doubt, and to which Katy responds "Mariah is fabulous for a throwback. Fabulous." She then goes on to say how she loves Fantasy, Honey, and One Sweet Day and how she sang Mariah's music growing up. However, the "throwback" thing was pretty uncalled for, in my opinion, as we know that the implications of that are that Mariah is only good for the past and is not relevant in the present. And that's what people see as shade. I don't blame them for it. But, she has also said Mariah was an influence of hers, and credited her with inspiring songs on her recent album. Obviously "This is How We Do" references her, but she says "Birthday" was inspired by Mariah's 90s music, and her duet with John Mayer was inspired by Mariah's laugh at the end of "Emotions". So, mixed signals, but I believe that at the end of the day, Katy respects Mariah and is a fan. I mean, she did call herself a part of the "lambily for life".

Mariah's third vocal prime (55,357) by LC from USA
Wow. All I can say is wow. I have not been this happy to be a Mariah fan in so long. After all the hoopla and criticism she's faced in the past few years over her supposed decline, Mariah has really used this Vegas residency to destroy our doubts and prove that she is still, without a doubt, the greatest singer in the world. From what I've heard, last night's show was her greatest vocal night since the Charmbracelet tour. She has her fluidity back in her belting, as well the stamina and ease she had 12 years ago, and her resonance is out of this world. Not to mention that on certain performances, she was able to match her studio vocals, and sound almost the same. I encourage all of you to visit this channel to listen to her. The audio captured is very high quality and Mariah's voice is indescribable. Some highlights are Vision Of Love, My All, One Sweet Day, and of course, this video of Thank God I Found You. She even sang a little bit of Bliss and Rainbow (Interlude) in this one. This video just proves that you can never doubt Mariah Carey. When she's down, she'll come back swinging harder than ever. Congratulations, Mariah. You have truly redeemed yourself as the greatest vocalist if all time.

Harper's Bazaar (55,356) by LC from USA
For those of us who were wondering why Mariah was in Paris and the fate of the whole photo shoot she did there, it turns out that she will be featured in the annual "Icons" issue of Harper's Bazaar, which will be released on September 16. Apparently, there will be a launch event at The Plaza Hotel in New York to reveal the issue and to start off New York's Fashion Week. You can read more here.

Mariah media (54,869) by LC from USA
I actually like the direction Mariah and her new team are going with this era. While I do agree with the posters here that the kissing pic is definitely staged, and that this whole relationship story was just handed to TMZ over the past week, I think it's a good thing in the long run. This whole #1 To Infinity era is image repair and damage control. Last year, the media destroyed her. There were so many stories about her divorce with Nick, her alleged mental instability and depression, her album flopping, her body, and of course, the bad performances that spread like wildfire all throughout the world. This year, it's different. Mariah and her team are using the media interest to their advantage. This relationship was bound to get out eventually. You can't hide someone who is one of the richest people on the planet. It was going to get out. So, Mariah is making sure she controls how the story spreads. It's a great idea. She's been one of the top stories this entire week on every major social media and news sites. People are talking about her. That's exactly what she needs. If she plays her cards right, with her alleged Game Of War deal, that Harpers Bazaar cover she shot in Paris, the Vegas shows, Empire, and her new Christmas movie, Mariah could very well make herself a comeback. We asked her to work for it, and that's what she's giving us. Although it seems like the recent photos are a little much, let's let Mariah do what she has to to reclaim the throne she deserves.

Stacey (54,704) by LC from USA
I've always wanted to ask this on this messageboard but I never got around to it, so thank you for posting. For vocals, I think I would choose:
1. O Holy Night: Hands down her best vocal performance, in my opinion. God was in the studio when she recorded this. I also let my friend listen to this song a while ago and she turned into a lamb.
2. Emotions: It's one of the most vocally challenging songs ever recorded. And it's the ultimate song for any singer to prove their whistle register.
3. Butterfly: One of her greatest, most emotional and beautifully sung songs.
4. If It's Over (Grammys): Her greatest live performance. Enough said.
5. Fly Like A Bird: A good way to show that a Mariah never "lost her voice" after the 90s and is still a world class vocalist to this day.
Songwriting:
1. Cry. Such an emotional song, with such powerful lyrics.
2. The Roof: The imagery is amazing here. One of her greatest songs.
3. Fourth of July: This is poetry.
4. Outside: Such a beautifully written track. One of my favorites.
5. Breakdown: So haunting and deceiving, beautiful.
There are so many missing here, and on any given day, some of these might change but I think this is a list I could definitely go with. Mariah really has the greatest discography.

Morgan Carey (54,303) by LC from USA
Shawn definitely has his aunt's back. Just a few hours ago, he continued defending her on Twitter saying "Literally no one I'm my family has spent 25% the amount of time I have with her for the last 20 years. He's seen her 3 times in the last 7 years. Go listen to the 2nd and 3rd verses of I Wish You Well. I'm not allowed to say who they're about, but I personally know 3 of them. And that's not looking back, that's at the time." I'm so glad that he's helping to clear all of this up. Clearly, Mariah knows what Morgan has been saying and the effect his words have had on her fans, so I'm happy that she is clearing it up, though indirectly. I hope this is enough proof for all of the lambs to drop the topic because it was clearly just a sorry bid for money by a man who used to know her.

Congratulations Mariah! (54,302) by LC from USA
I don't know if this has been posted yet, but did you guys know that Mariah's #1 To Infinity show is in the top 10 of the highest grossing concerts/tours for the month of May, according to Billboard? In fact, at number 8, she also has the highest grossing show for a female artist this whole month, with over $4.5 million made from just 8 shows. You can see for yourself here. This is amazing. I'm so proud of her. At least, amidst the drama of her life, there's still so much positivity. Congratulations to MC and to all the lambs that had the opportunity to see her.

Morgan Carey the liar (54,258) by LC from USA
Well, thank God someone spoke up. Mariah's nephew Shawn (you know, the one she put through Harvard and basically raised and who is close to Mariah to this day) just called Morgan out on his BS. His twitter is @shawnpmcd and he tweeted a just few hours ago, "Total lie. This isn't about help. This is about $. He isn't/hasn't been around for literally years. Old, broke and sad. Pray for him." I know that many of you already believe Morgan, but I'll take the side of the one who didn't offer "help" to his sister by giving an interview to the National Enquirer. "Petals" seems very befitting nowadays. Be blessed, Morgan. Love you, MC. PS here's the link if you don't believe me.

The state of Mariah Carey's career (53,915) by LC from USA
This is how I see the state of Mariah Carey's career at this point. She is an untouchable icon whose influence and impact on music is evident now more than ever. You wouldn't hear "Bad Blood" with Kendrick Lamar or "Dark Horse" with Juicy J or "Problem" with Iggy Azalea, some of the biggest worldwide hits of the past two years, without "Fantasy" with ODB. Her impact and legacy will forever live on in music. But, in recent years, her image has taken a huge downfall. What should she do? In my opinion, Mariah has everything she needs to do a complete turnaround of her image. She has been slowly dropping her weight, her team has been working at rebranding and reminding the public of her achievements, and, as seen in Vegas, her voice is still incredible. She has everything she needs to succeed, but she also has everything working against her. I agree with what Jermaine said to an extent (though I think it's stupid of him to broadcast his comments, what kind of friend are you?), but Mariah is in a completely different state in her career now. She isn't career-driven anymore because she has something else that drives her and makes her happy that she didn't have before. Her kids. And that's a beautiful thing. Though I do want Mariah to comeback and shut up the haters more than anything, I'm just glad she's still making music and cares enough about her fans to not go on an 8 year hiatus a la Janet Jackson. She's still here, and she can still come back. But, she does not have to.

Just a thought (53,827) by LC from USA
Don't you think it's kind of sad that all Mariah does is express her love for her lambs and this is what she gets in return? Whenever anyone brings up her success, she always says "I'm so grateful for my fans because they did this. It wasn't me. I am nothing without them," almost verbatim from one of the recent radio interviews, yet all she gets is a fan base who consistently criticizes her and bitches about little things. So what if she complains about her old videos? They're her videos, and she should have had a say in what she looked like in those videos. While I do see where you're all coming from to an extent, I think you're taking it too seriously. Mariah always says: everyone takes me seriously but me. This is for laughs. This is so she can rant about things she hasn't before, hence the title "memories and rants". She's not being ungrateful and it's not like these videos are going viral for the whole world to see. This is for the lambs. Get over yourselves. And get festive.
