How much is Mariah Carey making?
Move over Britney Spears, there's a new diva in town! According to E! News, Mariah Carey is taking her act to Vegas for a Britney Spears style residency. According to the entertainment news site, the "#Beautiful" singer is close to signing a lucrative deal with an as yet unidentified Las Vegas resort to play regular shows to "thousands of fans on a regular basis", and it could even begin before 2015 is over.
Though the site didn't reveal how much cash it took for the former "American Idol" judge to sign on the dotted line, it's thought that her figure is "nowhere near" the amount Spears is making for her "Piece of Me" residency shows at the Planet Hollywood resort.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Spears is making around $1 million a week for her shows, netting a cool $475,000 every single time she hits the stage. That's just about $1,000 less than the amount Celine Dion pockets for her string of shows in Sin City.
If Carey does head to the bright lights of Vegas, now seems like the perfect time for the star. Her 2014 album "Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse" pretty drastically under-performed when it came to sales. It's thought to have sold less than 120,000 copies in the US in the eight months since its release in May 2014, whilst her latest single "You Don't Know What to Do" failed to chart in the US.
It's thought that the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hit-maker will rely more heavily on her earlier material, such as "Heartbreaker", "We Belong Together" and "Hero" when getting her Vegas set list together. Will you be heading to Vegas to see Mariah Carey? Do you think a residency is a good choice for the star? (Unreality TV)
