Earlier this month, the New York Daily News dubbed Jordin Sparks "the next Mariah". Of course, considering all that Mimi has accomplished during her 25+ years in the industry, Sparks has some pretty large shoes to fill. And naturally, some are wondering if she truly lives up to the massive title that Daily News writer Jim Farber has afforded her.
In a recent interview, the "Right Here, Right Now" singer spoke briefly about the comparisons, and she's pretty flattered. "That's the biggest compliment ever. Ever," she told Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club".
According to Sparks, Carey has been a part of her musical journey before she was even born. "My mom was listening to Mariah when she was pregnant with me, and so I feel like she's been a part of my life my entire life. There's a lot of her influence in the way I sing and what I really like to hear. So for somebody to say that is a real big compliment to me."
