"No drama" with Cookie, says Taraji P. Henson

We've got really sad news for you - there will be no fighting between Mariah Carey and Cookie on the new season of Empire. "No drama," Taraji P. Henson told me at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she was promoting her upcoming movie Hidden Measures. "Everybody things that, but no drama."

What? "She's actually an ally of mine on the show," Henson explained. Mariah, who will pop up on the show in October, plays a music superstar named Kitty who collaborates with Jamal (Jussie Smollett). A teaser for Carey's debut shows her in the studio with Jamal and telling Cookie, "You've always got a trick up your sleeve."

Henson gushed about working with Carey at the 2016 Television Critics Association summer press tour, "She was great," she said. "She's fabulous, she's beautiful to look at. Wish I could wear a leotard like that. What Mariah brings to the music industry, she brought to the show. I'm grateful she spent time with us."

Empire returns on Wednesday, September 21 at 9 p.m. on FOX. (And don't forget to watch the series premiere of Mariah's World Sunday, December 4 at 9 p.m., only on E!) And make sure to check out the video to see what happened when we gave a bottle of champagne to Henson for her birthday.
