No Photoshop here

The latest wave of controversy appeared to wash over Mariah Carey as she stepped out on Tuesday night, shortly after being accused of Photoshopping her latest magazine cover. Catching the eye in a plunging embellished evening dress, the legendary singer, 47, appeared nonplussed by the criticism aimed at her risqué new cover shoot during a romantic dinner date with younger boyfriend Brian Tanaka, 34.

Drawing attention to her curves, Mariah beamed at onlookers as she made an exit from the Boston branch of popular seafood restaurant Ocean Prime. The mother-of-two added to her look with flesh coloured fishnet tights, while strappy peep-toe heels rounded things off. In keeping with her extravagant ensemble, Mariah accentuated her immediately recognisable features with a generous application of foundation, blusher and eyeliner.

Evidently in high spirits, the American singer was hand in hand with dancer boyfriend Brian as they made their way towards a waiting car, where they were greeted by a small coterie of assistants. Her latest appearance comes after she was accused of doctoring her latest topless pictures for Paper magazine. With only her long, tousled hair covering her modesty, the soul diva gave a glimpse of her buxom physique in the racy pictures.

She was dressed in a showgirl inspired outfit in a nod to her recent Las Vegas residency. But it was pictures from those shows at Caesars Palace that led fans to accuse her of Photoshopping to extremes. The Hero singer wore just a pair of fishnet tights and some sheer, black gloves for the Paper magazine cover.

And as well as going braless for the shoot, the star drew extra attention to her cleavage by wearing a gem-encrusted necklace down her chest and stomach. The star was clearly pleased with the image, sharing a the picture to her Instagram writing: "Pick up your copy today to find about all the festivity that happens in Vegas, but doesn't stay in Vegas."

However rather than praising Mariah for the picture, many fans slammed her and accused her of toying with her body shape. One person wrote: "Airbrushed much?" while another added "Hahaha stop editing your photos. It's ridiculous. Accept your body or go to the gym." Another simply said: "That's not your body!"

Mariah completed her #1 to Infinity residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas last month and the star appeared to look more fuller-figured in images from the performance. This is not the first time the singer, who has six-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, has been accused of heavily photo shopping her pictures. In 2015 the cover of her album #1 to Infinity showed the star looking svelte in a skimpy black dress and fans were quick to question if the image had been edited.

And a number of pictures she has shared to Instagram have sparked a debate as to whether she has tampered with them. In the interview with Paper magazine, Miss Carey also revealed her "diva moments" were nothing compared to her mother. She said: "My mother is an opera singer. And that's a real diva, you know - Juilliard diva. And so other people that are like, 'I'm a diva', it's like, 'Honey, you don't know what a diva is, you didn't grow up with my mom.'"

According to Kate Garraway, when the singer appeared on GMTV in 2009 she demanded two ITV producers lowered her onto the sofa so as to keep creases out of her dress. She also asked for 20 white kittens and 100 white doves when she turned on the Christmas lights in London.

This isn't the first time Mariah has been caught in a photoshopping scandal. Last year the star was caught in a flurry of airbrushing accusations within the space of a few days. One image that proved outrage was from her Hawaii holiday, which saw her clad in a skintight black catsuit that showed off her phenomenal curves.

However, fans took to the image sharing site to speculate as to whether all was as it appears, as they accused the star of digitally altering the snap. "Is that photoshop behind the right arms in the space?" one fan asked, as others commented: "Probably photoshopped to the gods but she looks good," and "Photoshopppppppped." One fan insisted that these sort of comments were to be expected, however, posting: "Haters will say it's photoshopped."

The scandal came just days after Mariah was accused of altering a sexy swimsuit snap. The Hero hitmaker's stomach looked suspiciously smooth, and her legs also appeared slimmer. Fans were quick to question if this was the work of editing software, but others were also quick to leap to her defence.

Mariah, who had recently split from fiance James Packer, was also slammed for a photo fail after digitally altering her legs to look thinner in a snapshot which showed her holding a pie and a can of whipped cream. A bathroom cupboard behind the singer was warped and no longer standing straight, providing clear evidence that she had edited the original image.
