Destiney Bleu on Mariah, Rihanna rocking her designs

Destiney Bleu, a fashion designer known for her embellished bodysuits and crystal tights, had no idea her designs would end up on Mariah Carey. Bleu - whose name you may remember from legal battles with Khloe Kardashian earlier this year - had the honor of helping dress Carey for her Las Vegas cover shoot with Paper Magazine, only she didn't know until after the fact.

"A bunch of people started tagging me a couple days ago and tagging Mariah to my page, so I went on her page and saw it, and I was like, 'I wonder if those are our tights?'" Bleu told TooFab. Bleu - who owns "a tiny company with like three or four girls" - said she reached out to the stylist who worked on the shoot, who confirmed Carey was wearing her D.Bleu.Dazzled tights. She also went to the magazine's website and saw that her company was credited.

"I'm just glad it's not a knock-off," she said, noting Khloe and her Good American team have "backed off" since issuing two cease and desist letters to Bleu. This isn't the first time Bleu has worked with Paper Magazine, so it didn't seem out of the realm of possibilities. She said stylists will often buy her products on behalf of their celebrity clients, so she doesn't always know who will end up wearing her designs.

But when she got an email "out of nowhere" from Rihanna's stylist saying the Barbados native loved her tights and wanted to wear them at Crop Over Festival earlier this month, Bleu hustled and got them done in less than a day. "A messenger picked them up Thursday morning, and then I just like stalked Rihanna and all of her tagged photos," Bleu said. "I was online and people were tagging me like, 'Oh my God, are these yours?' And I was like, 'Sh-t, I guess she's wearing them!'"

Bleu was pleasantly surprised to see Rihanna in her tights because she said a lot of times celebrity clients will order designs from several different designers, "so you'll make things and just not know what's happening".
