Mariah Carey is coming to New Zealand

Mariah Carey will return to New Zealand for just the second time this summer. The pop powerhouse announced the herself via social media, in a move that appeared to catch her local team off guard. Her New Zealand show was confirmed in a post, telling fans: "Australia and New Zealand, I'm bringing my #1's Tour to you this February." Carey was last in New Zealand in 2014 for a one-off show at Auckland's Vector Arena, where she received rave reviews.

No official dates have been released, but February's tour would be the second visit to New Zealand for the singer who has won five Grammy Awards and sold more than 200 million records. Local promoters confirmed Carey would be performing in February, but they appeared caught out by her Thursday posts. A promoter said she was not yet in a position to confirm which cities Carey would be performing to or how many shows were planned.

She added that Carey's tour announcement had been promised to a radio station as an exclusive story. It was understood the full details would not be released until early next week. Fans were advised to sign up to her fan club for exclusive ticket presales.

The tour is being promoted by MJR Presents, who are also bringing Sia to Auckland. Sia will perform at Mt Smart Stadium in December. The company also put on shows at The Powerstation and was taking the I Love the 90's Tour to Spark Arena.
