What's better than watching random tutorials on YouTube? Watching the fabulous Mariah Carey try nine things she's never done before, duh. Allure caught up with the elusive chanteuse herself in the video above for a quick round-up of some of Mariah's firsts. The results are hilarious and of course, enlightening. By the end of the video, we find out that Mariah Carey is a true beauty gem and that the world truly doesn't deserve her.
First up on the list, Mariah removes a stain from a shirt. "I'm just gonna work on the biggest of the stains. I'm gonna let it work for me as opposed to working too hard for that." Although we're sure it's been years since Mariah has had to launder her own clothes, her technique seems to be effective and quite honestly, applicable to most life situations.
After dropping knowledge through some thorough spot treatment, Mariah tries her next task of putting makeup on a stranger. Right off the bat, she reminds us that's she's not new to this, she's true to this. "See, you guys are looking for a funny moment, but the thing is, I'm actually good at this." After some blush, a natural lip, and a few touch-ups, our guy reveals his new beat and we have to say, he appeared to have more of a natural glow. We would suggest finding her MUA booking info in her bio, but we're sure the world probably couldn't afford Mariah's services.
Next up, Mariah locks a secret in a journal with the help of her pup, ChaCha. Unfortunately, we can't spill the tea on this one. And it wouldn't be an Allure video if masking wasn't involved. Next, the singer applies a beauty glitter mask, carefully, to a mannequin face. While doing so, she urges viewers to "be careful of the delicate eye area". Spoken like a true beauty expert with impeccable skin.
After some delicate masking, Mariah's onto testing drug store perfumes against expensive ones. The bottles are virtually nameless but that doesn't stop MC from naming them herself. The first choice isn't particularly Mariah's taste, but admits that she finds the bottle pretty and nicknames it LaLa Fancypants. The second perfume, a $200 floral scent, Mariah instantly names Nicole. The last is Mariah's least favorite, a $20 radiant floral scent that she adds has "a nice hint of Bubblicious or something". The shade. At last, Mariah arrives at her favorite, and of course, it's the most expensive one.
Mariah shows us yet again that beauty is her true calling when she cuts and styles the hair our mannequin head. Naturally, she goes in heavy with the hair spray and begins to scrunch the hair to give it some volume. Then, she follows up with the scissors and decides that our girl is in need of some bangs. Once again, MC shows us her technique, cutting at an angle like a pro stylist. After getting active with the shears, Mariah is asked to draw a self-portrait but with makeup. Slightly bending the rules (because when you're Mariah Carey, do rules exist?), she decides to draw what she's feeling, a heart that symbolizes love - a singer turned beauty guru that cares. You can't beat that.
Keeping the theme of love, she's asked to share an inspirational quote on love to which she replies, "Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none - Mariah Carey,”" she jokes. She quickly corrects that it was William Shakespeare who said those words; either way, we'll take it. Lastly, MC finishes the video by cutting with a clothespin, "Off to Vegas!" she yells. The next time you see the singer, she'll be returning to Las Vegas for her headlining residency, The Butterfly Returns at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace starting July 5th.
