Local families aren't the only ones who enjoyed the thrills of rollercoaster rides at Playland this past weekend. Singer/songwriter Mariah Carey and her family were spotted at the Rye amusement park riding the dragon coaster (twice) and enjoying the Double Shot, the latter of which launches passengers through two cycles of positive and negative "G" experiences - back to back.
The singer was a guest of honor at the park as revealed on the park's Instagram page. "Our coaster is your coaster," the park posted Sunday night. "Thank you for being our guest of honor this weekend."
Carey, a former Westchester resident, has long been associated with the park. She filmed her 1995 music video for her album "Fantasy" there years ago. If you watch closely, you can see the singer rollerblading near the boardwalk entrance, riding the Dragon Coaster, and dancing on top of cars.
She also visited for a platinum party for her Daydream record and the Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah. In 2019, the park posted: "You never know who you'll find at Playland Park!" The park, in business since 1928, has long been used as a film and TV backdrop including in "Big", "Billions", and "Fatal Attraction".
