Mariah Carey worries fans after "crying" on stage

Pop icon Mariah Carey has sparked concern among fans as she appeared incredibly emotional mid-performance in Las Vegas. The 55-year-old singer has been stunning music lovers at her residency The Celebration of Mimi, which has been running since April.
Initially an eight-show run, when the residency wraps next year the All I Want For Christmas Is You star will have performed 24 time at the Dolby Live.

A clip of her recent performance appeared online, in which the Obsessed hitmaker looks like she is holding back tears while belting out Make It Happen. Midway through the song her eyes seem to glass over and Mariah takes a moment to collect herself as she lets the backing vocals run before joining back in.

Posted on YouTube, fans were quick to discuss how "sad" and "uncomfortable" the Emotions hitmaker looked at the August 3 gig. "I hope she's okay. She looks uncomfortable," wrote Madly Blooming on Reddit as they voiced concerns about her packed touring schedule.

In November, Mariah will embark on a Christmas tour around the US lasting until the end of December. There's barely any rest though as after this she returns back to her residency for eight more Vegas shows in February.

"She also just announced an upcoming 20-city Christmas tour, then after that leg 3 of The Celebration of Mimi Las Vegas residency continues," Sanandrios said. "She's doing more shows than a lot new artists." Another Redditor, CheezeLoueez08, replied: "That's too much. Way over the top. She needs to step back."

"Mariah's been in the game for over 30 years now. It's no wonder she might be feeling the strain. Even divas need a break sometimes. Hope she's okay," shared Louiselyn. "Everybody has internal battles, regardless how rich and famous they are. Hope she's okay," added Queencx0.

In the comments of the original YouTube video, many attributed the tears to her split from choreographer Bryan Tanaka after seven years together. Bryan, 41, confirmed their separation via social media, sharing a sweet message to show he'll continue to carry a torch for the 40-year-old vocalist.

"Bless her heart. Whatever she's going through, I hope she finds peace. She hasn't been herself since the breakup," wrote Richymacmillion. User Gustamanavo added: "This is truly heartbreaking. You can see she's on the verge of crying when the 'don't let go, don't ever ever let go' part of the song comes in."

In 2001, during her promotion of the movie Glitter, Mariah faced exhaustion so bad that she even checked herself into hospital to recover. Her publicist at the time confirmed an "emotional and physical breakdown" and the star added she was "was giving as much as I could" at the time.

Mariah's schedule was said to be "relentless" and she claimed "nowhere in my itinerary was there R-E-S-T". Since then, the Fantasy singer has not publicly addressed her health, although she did share in 2018 that she has bipolar II disorder, having been diagnosed in 2001.

I wonder what she's struggling with. That was really sad to watch. Reminds me of years back when she started crying during a performance of Outside (I believe; she was wearing black feathers and had just had that accident on the set of the #Beautiful remix video set), or when she cried at the Christmas concert when her and Nick were breaking up. At least we know she's singing live, but it was hard watching the backup singers and band keep looping back waiting for her to jump back in. I wonder if all the focus and discussion on Celine's struggle with her voice and illness is making Mimi reflect on her own vocal aging. No Olympian can do what they did in their 20's while they're in their 50's. Anyway, it breaks my heart when I see Mariah cry.

Maybe it's because she just learned that her sister Alison is in hospice care and close to death. Naw. She doesn't care about Alison.
