Britney, BSB top nominations for MTV Europe Awards
Our friends at MTV Europe have just announced the performers, presenters, and nominees for the 1999 MTV Europe Awards, and the list is heavy with U.S. acts familiar from both the Stateside charts as well as this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys appear to be as popular across the drink as they are in their homeland; each received four nominations, the most of any artist. Other multiple nominees include Ricky Martin, George Michael, Will Smith, Lauryn Hill, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, the Cardigans, Boyzone, Jamiroquai, The Offspring, TLC, Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The lineup of performers promises to rival the domestic VMA roster, with Spears, the Cardigans, Mariah Carey, the Corrs, Jamiroquai, Marilyn Manson, The Offspring, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Whitney Houston, and Underworld lined up for the show.
Presenters for the show, which will be hosted by Ronan Keating of Boyzone, include Pierce Brosnan, Denise Richards, Carmen Electra, Christina Aguilera, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Jay-Z, L.L. Cool J, and Mary J. Blige, among others.
The awards show will take place at The Point in Dublin on November 11; stay tuned for broadcast dates and times. (MTV News)
