It's hard to believe that the 48th Annual Grammy Awards in 2006 were ten years ago, but times have definitely changed. Back in 2006, on the Grammy's red carpet, Britney Spears and K-Fed were still together (and would be for one more year), and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were still a happy couple with Kingston on the way.
The Grammys in 2006 was the year of Kelly Clarkson, who took home the awards for Best Pop Album for Breakaway, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Since U Been Gone". Mariah Carey also made a killing with awards, winning Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song for "We Belong Together", and Best Contemporary R&B Album for The Emancipation of Mimi.
There were a lot of big stars getting established back in 2006, including John Legend, who won Best New Artist, Best Male R&B Performance for "Ordinary People" and Best R&B Album for Get Lifted. Kanye's second album, Late Registration, won the award for Best Rap Album, and the song "Gold Digger" was the winner for Best Rap Solo Performance.
Then, there was the fashion: Carrie Underwood wearing leopard print to an after-party, Kanye rocking a lavender lavender jacket and Beyoncé looking just as flawless in a different decade.
