Mariah Carey sparkles in Glitter
Following news of her record-breaking contract with Virgin Records, international superstar Mariah Carey has announced that her eagerly awaited new album "Glitter", the soundtrack to her movie debut of the same name, will be released in August. The first single from the album, the funky "Loverboy", features a hook from Cameo’s 1985 smash hit, "Candy" which is one of the American diva’s favourite songs. Mariah enlisted Cameo’s own Larry Blackmon and Thomas Jenkins to aid in the remake which also features rappers Ludacris and Da Brat.
Cameo also makes an appearance in the video, directed by acclaimed photographer David Lachapelle, which sees the sexy diva taking to the motorway for a never-before-seen adventure on wheels!
"Glitter" is Mariah’s first album of new material since 1999’s "Rainbow" and features songs from the singer’s semi-autobiographical film debut set in the 1980’s. The movie co-stars Mel B’s boyfriend, Max Beasley.
"The uptempo songs are aggressive and hot and represent that spirit of the '80s," Mariah reveals. "But I also have a lot of guest artists that really make it hot and contemporary. The ballads are also these deep, emotional, intense songs that would stand on their own as a regular album from me."
Since her debut in 1990 with "Vision Of Love", Mariah Carey has sold an amazing 130 million albums and scored 15 No.1 singles on the US Billboard Chart, more than any other female singer. (Raft.com)
