Misty Moon

We found out on the 11th that Mariah Carey has covered a Japanese song for the first time. The original English version of the song "Oborozukiyo" from the Taisho period (1912-1926) has been recorded as a new commercial song for the blend tea "Soukenbicha". Mariah who sang the peaceful spring view by a calm and elegant way said "The song has turned out very well" with confidence. The commercial will start airing from the 18th and there are no plans of a CD release right now so it will be a limited song for the commercial.

A "blend" between Mariah Carey, a diva that represents America, and Japan's traditional song came true. Under "Soukenbicha"'s this year's campaign slogan, "So beautiful Soukenbicha", a collaboration between Mariah and the song had been planned and Mariah's side agreed. The song Mariah covered, "Oborozukiyo", was produced in Taisho period (1912-1926). A masterpiece of a lyric poem which represents Japan's peaceful spring's pastoral landscape. This time, the song was reborn as the English title "Misty Moon".

Mariah recorded the song in New York from the end of last year to the beginning of this year. To concentrate on the work, just Mariah herself, the pianist, and the sound engineer stayed in the studio the whole time. Since the song is also the first song of Mariah's to be announced in 2004, Mariah worked harder than always. She presented the song which the English lyrics were put to the melody that is familiar to the Japanese with her beautiful voice that is described as the 7 octave diva.

She said "I sang with all my heart so it will spread a beautiful and elegant world that is suitable to the lovely Japan's blend tea". It was her first time to cover a Japanese song but the recording went smoothly. "It has been a wonderful opportunity. The song's melody is beautiful too and I think it turned out well". Mariah who has done 4 concert tours in Japan before said "Speaking of Japan's spring, I heard that it is a beautiful season with Sakura. I would be happy if I get to go to Japan in spring" after singing the song and her interest to Japan seemed to have increased.

Right now she is still in the middle of her world tour and there is no plans of her visit to Japan but gave the fans a message, "I hope you like the song. Lets meet again soon". Right now the song is only used for the commercial. It seems like there will be a rush of requests of the song to be released and for Mariah's visit to Japan.
