Mine's a tie between Underneath The Stars and Languishing. My second most played song is Ribbon. Amazing songs.

Actually Mariah has already filmed another Carpool Karaoke. I'm so excited really, no doubt this will be better than her first Carpool Karaoke.

She looks gorgeous. I think her face looks slimmer. On the other hand, I can't wait for the vocal slayage in Becon. If she sounded amazing in previous Beacon shows, she would sound breathtaking in this year's Beacon shows.

I would say that the download/streaming day would have to be download/streaming weeks. From the past charts, it's clear that AIWFCIY is the strongest in the third week of December to the first week of January. Therefore, I think it would be best for the streaming/downloads week to be at the fourth week of December, that's where the peak activity is. Combined with the GP buying and streaming the song, it would propel the song to top 10. I hope Stella realizes the potential of AIWFCIY and come up with a hell of a promotional plan.

Do You Think of Me (67,260)
by darrian liu from taiwan
| |
|
|
Mariah has got to give this song a chance. This song came out in 1993 but doesn't sound dated at all. She needs to re-record this song, maybe add more modern twists to it but let it stay to its original structure. I think it would be amazing.

I thought most of the fillers people get nowadays are temporary. Kylie's lip fillers lasts about 6-8 months but never more than a year. If Mariah uses fillers, she has to stop and just wait for the fillers to be absorbed, don't fix what ain't broken.

I would think Max Martin would be more suitable for Mariah. He could churn out catchy hooks that still stays true to the artist he's producing. If Mariah wanna work with Skrillex, it would be better if Mariah works with Skrillex's duo Jack Ü. Jack Ü's sound is softer than Skrillex's solo work, giving more space for her to shine. The Chainsmokers would be great too. Or, she could work with Daft Punk. They're amazingly talented.

Can I just say that this song brings so much joy to me? I didn't really pay attention to it before but after reading the messages here regarding how good the song is, I really listened to it and damn, I fell in love with the song. It's pure joy encapsulated in 4 minutes and a half.

Empire (67,055)

I was legit jumping up and down on my seat during the whole episode waiting for Mariah and I was so excited when I got to her parts. I wished her character has more backstory though, I really want to see Kitty in more episodes. I'm also really happy that the GP loved Mimi and her song in Empire.

Re: Infamous vocals (66,966) (66,978)
by darrian liu from taiwan

I agree. Mariah put a bit too much restraint in Infamous but it's better than making a song with tons of high notes she can't consistently hit live. Plus, Infamous has that minimal sound that I've been wanting her to lean more on and although the results isn't very good for Mariah's standards, it's decent. And the more I listen to it, it actually grows on me pretty quickly. Mariah's harmonies are also more subdued and sounded so pretty.

Infamous (66,876)
by darrian liu from taiwan
| |
|
|
Wasn't as good as I expected it to be, but nonetheless an improvement over Infinity. I was pleasantly surprised by how rich and earthy her midrange is, but I wish she could let her vocals roar more, because it seems like she is holding back a bit too much. My problem with this song, aside from the forgettable melody, is that the song never really seems to hit that climax nor does it have a sense of resolution. If there is a good climax the song would have been better, but I like it. Jussie shouldn't have used so much autotune though.

Such an astonishing album, it's an instant classic. I love the album dearly, especially the videos. Does anyone realize how all videos in the Butterfly era has that gold-nude-brown color schemes in them (except for the My All video)? Like there's a gold/nude undertones in the videos and I thought that made her even more goddess-like. All those videos were so gorgeous and classy, I wish Mariah would make videos like them in the future.

I thought Lemonade was brilliant, such an inspired album, especially when put in context with the visuals and storyline. What I love about it is that Beyoncé took big risks with the album and I really want Mariah to be brave enough to take big risks with her next album too. Mariah is arguably more musically talented than Beyoncé and if she takes big risks, I think Mariah will win even more critical acclaim than what Beyoncé achieved with Lemonade and her self-titled album.

Some of Mariah's best songs are midtempo and slow jams. Breakdown, The Roof, Underneath The Stars, Fourth Of July, Bliss, etc. I wouldn't really complain if she gives a really good slow jam.

Re: Infinity (66,173) (66,184)
by darrian liu from taiwan

I agree 100%. Infinity is definitely a very patchy song, quite disjointed, but it doesn't sound intentional. It sounds like Mariah did Infinity to capture the essence of her past works (hence, we get all the trademark Mariah things; the layered vocals, the whistle, the belts, the melismas, the rap-singing, the whispery vocals) but I would've preferred if Mariah had ended the #1s To Infinity compilation with a song that more or less gives us a hint of which direction does Mariah want to go musically in the future, instead of a song that gives us a throwback. I really look forward to her song on Empire. I hope that it would be an improvement over Infinity.

I don't think The Weeknd would accept J.Lo's invitation if she asks him to collaborate. This is the guy that outright rejected a song from one of the biggest producers in the world, Max Martin and actually wrote together with him instead of accepting a pre-made, almost surefire hit. The Weeknd is somebody who values his work and won't drag his art down by collaborating with J.Lo.

Mariah would sound so good singing You Are Not Alone. I would really love to listen to her making an acoustic cover of it but knowing Mariah, I think she'd turn it into a piano ballad, keep the original arrangement, or make it into some form of R&B ballad. Either way I don't think she could go wrong covering this song.
