About Mara from United States:
I'm a Mariah fan since the debut. Been through her entire career with her and may not always agree with every single thing she does, But i will always come to her defense when she gets attacked for being misunderstood. I am not a blind fan and relate Mariah to a sister who I would tell in a minute if something seems wrong or something of that nature. I come to this board to discuss her with people who I feel are true fans and yes, some don't always praise her to the heavens every single moment but we all are here for the same reason and we do adore her.

Yes I know, anniversary. But today is the first day, a new day for a new year. I hope you are celebrating and enjoying life with people who love you and especially those two beautiful little miracles. I hope the next year is blessed with new beginnings, health, happiness, success and inner peace. Thank you for being right there with me whether you knew it or not for 27 years. We always have your back, no matter what, even if we tell it like it is sometimes. LYM our original diva, the one, the absolute only Miss Mariah Carey.

I have to agree with this as well. I remember her singing in that mic starting right at Luther like she was watching his cues. I also remember her singing that way with Whitney when they performed WYB live. She always seemed to be a bit reserved and respectful. Mariah never came off as a showoff and was classy with her performances with other legends. With Luther and that live performance, I think he seemed thrilled that she was "killing it" on stage with him. That glorious Luther smile said it all when she went there. Agree with RibbonB too, where is our Luther of this generation?

I'm wondering if this is too much at this point. I don't want to see this timeless, iconic staple of a song become a cliche' this far into its career. Seems like she tried it with the book and maybe it didn't do what she thought it would do, or this may have been the plan all along, to release the book and the movie at a later date. She could have always done the movie a few years down the line away from the book to spread it out a little, but she does need to keep bringing in money to her brand also.

Have to agree with Andrew on this too. If we don't get the deep retrospective type song, I also am craving another It's Like That or Beautiful with more Mariah. That timeless different sound was so refreshing. I liked the freeness of Loving You Long Time and I'm That Chick. Meteorite was totally unexpected too. Something fresh and fun for the upsoming Spring/Summer months.

Ugh, if only. I think that's what a lot of us are really craving right now Randy. No offense but the rapper styled song has been so overdone and I'm ready for another Petals, UTS, Butterfly, Languishing, Close My Eyes, Reflections, Til The End Of Time, something...

Butterfly (73,725)
by Mara from United States

I really hope Mariah doesn't waste this opportunity to "make the world remember" and perhaps introduce new fans to the masterpiece. If she doesn't recognize this masterpiece for what it is for its 20th anniversary I will feel she really missed out. No offense to MC but I doubt she will release another career defining album/moment like Thee Butterfly anytime soon, so please remind the world who you ar and what you indeed are capable of. On a side note: Do we think Stella owns a copy of Butterfly? Hmm, I wonder. Does Mishka know what Mariah is capable of? Mariah, LA, release a remastered copy of Butterfly, give unreleased material, raw material, unedited, whatever. But something with new packaging. Mariah, don't let this opportunity pass you by. This album is too damn good to not pay any attention to the anniversary of its greatness. It could literally still be played today and put all the "current" it people to shame. And I must say this, I wish there was a yearly or five year event of a gettogether of the MCA people. I so would attend that. MimiL, I would love to actually converse with you among others in person. Would be fun.

Martyn our musical taste as far as MC songs are almost identical. I think you were one of the George Michael fans too if I'm not mistaken or was that someone else? I know there are a few of us on here. I love "Til the end of time" along with The Wind and a fav yearlong Christmas song would have to be The First Noel (Born is the King).

I saw her post too on twitter earlier today and now it seems it has been taken down. This seems to be a pattern with Danielle though. She will post something and deletes the tweet like she is nervous it will stir something. If Stella is behind this she is really no good and has no care at all. Danielle though, please don't back down what you think. If someone has done you wrong, don't let them intimidate you and remove your real opinions.

Edward I said the same thing when it comes to Nick. Anyone who doubts it should look back at the interview she most recently did with Kathy Lee and Hoda. As soon as Nick's name came up, her eyes lit up and that genuine realness came through that you just can't fake. Same as it did on the episode of MW that Nick and his mom were on and as we most recently saw on the red carpet. I do believe Stella stormed into Mariah's life when she was incredibly vulnerable and low. I honestly think this divorce hurt Mariah more than she let on, and she never really let herself get over it. I hate that Stella may be taking or has taken advantage of that. Even if she felt she is being good for MC and empowering her or whatever, she should be encouraging her to let her breathe a little. This codependency is not healthy and not lying MC heal from her marriage dissolving. But again, it may be Mariah herself who doesn't want to face the reality or abandonment of being alone. I do remember while she was married to Nick and towards the end she would often refer to him as the "abandon-er" and especially now that all her prior circle is gone, she has no one but Steller to fill that void. Apparently Tanaka isn't enough.

Winter storm Stella (73,585)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
So my fellow east coast friends, we are bracing ourselves for the storm of the last two decades per our weather channel. Of course it is named Stella. Too bad MC wasn't in her NYC apartment as these storms are few in NYC and I'm sure Roc and Roe would love to sit in and watch the city blanketed with snow. It's a shame MC has pretty much given up her New York card for Stel-LA Land.

Marissa isn't really answering your question or maybe it is, I don't think I could literally give up everything, but it does seem like Stella isn't in a way. She - Stella - is the one who seems to live her life just fine and have her father around, her sister, her cousins, whomever and it's MC who take around Stella too. It really is strange. I wanted to point out that literally since Stella was introduced and played a part in Mariah's life, that we seriously haven't seen MC out once anywhere without Stella behind. I really find that alarming. It's almost like Stella has to always be in somewhere watching. Why? I don't care who you are, why do you need someone with you 24/7? It just makes you feel like MC is on house arrest or something or Stella is the gatekeeper. I can't understand why she can't even go to something like he likes of the Kids Choice Awards with her children and their father and not have Stella and her daughters there. Ok, maybe Stella wanted her two to be there since the kids. Everytime I think MC is actually out without her, there is a car or a sighting of the black hair or the black leather jacket somewhere. It really has been every single MC outing since this woman has been around. She is never without her.

The Wind, Never Forget You, Candy Bling (73,427)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
So I've been thinking a lot about a high school ex boyfriend who has passed away three years ago and the lyrics to these songs all fit perfectly with him as I have noticed along the years. I know Mariah had a friend that passed away in high school. Does anyone remember anything more on this? Perhaps this was her first love? The lyrics in Candy Bling how she mentions thinking about the tenth grade and then the eleventh when they went "doggy fresh all the way to heaven". She really takes you there with those lyrics of the care free moments in life and young love when everything was simple and the butterflies came whenever you were around that person. This is what I am craving from MC like only she can do. I have never listened to anyone else that can take you there like Mariah. Candy Bling captures that essence and The Wind is a jazzy beautiful song that expresses her grief very hauntingly. It's things like this that reminds me to forget the outfits and antics and just remember how immensely talented she is. Never Forget You I still feel is about someone who is no longer here too. I just wonder if that person was a first love who passed away.

I really wish Sony would do something too. A covers album, rare songs, duets. I would love a mastered version of her performance for the Stevie Wonder tribute "You and I". Her voice gives me literal chills when it comes through the speakers on that song.

Well I guess that one was for me Danny. I only recently started using twitter in the past year or so, so I haven't seen her say that as it was Mishka for the most part. Of course I know "moments", but I'm taking it that she captioned things with Mornting before but I haven't been on twitter since before Mishka running her social media, however I can totally see her doing that though especially knowing she is a Tyler fan and letting it be her way of letting us know she herself posted the pic. It's just been so long that Mariah herself hasn't been doing any real online stuff that it was easy to assume It was a typo I suppose.

Now this is a moment. Plus it's her clearly taking the pic herself. No diamonds needed, they age her. She looks radiant and effortlessly sexy, youthful and confident and most importantly does not look awkward or trying to hard. I immediately liked and commented on the photo. Only thing is, was it spelled Mornting on purpose so people know Mishka posted it? I don't think Mariah would misspell her own catption? More if this MC. Less diamonds or at least in moderation, it's not needed when you are the gem.

Vanity Fair (73,259)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
Well I really don't know what to make of this whole situation any longer. I can't seem to find it to link it here and I'm not sure if any of you have seen the little interview Mariah barely did walking into Vanity Fair where the woman said Mariah was "like her Jesus" and that she has seen every Christmas concert and you can see Stella with her phone looking like she is ready to move Mariah along and then the woman proceeds to mention Mariah's World and how she is obsessed with Stella to and how "these are the stars of Mariah's World" and Stella then turns her back and walks in the woman's view pulling Mariah away and to the point where the woman says no I'm serious and Mariah looks uncomfortable and says "How can you not be obsessed with her" and then it's cut short. Like seriously what is wrong with Stella? Why be so rude? Was it because "Mariah's World is such a sore subject" that she thought they were being mocked or she really is trying to not allow Mariah to speak? What are we witnessing here? I don't like how she kept pushing Mariah away from microphones. I have lived through that once before as a fan and we all know what happened since. What I am thouroughly confused about is this: 1. Is Mariah really handing over that much control to Stella to the point where she seems to have literally checked out and goes with the flow? 2. Is she just making Stella look like the bad guy and this is all what she wants in the first place. Even the crazy instgram pics. Does she really want them posted but acted like it's all Mishka's doing? Is she really that blase' at this stage in her career or does she just never want to take the blame? I honestly don't know what to think anymore. If that is how Stella is working now, it seems like she is getting much more brazen in ordering MC around. Someone mentioned somewhere that she reminds them of Whitneys manager Pat Houston. She does. It's just all so bizarre but I feel like it's not for me to decide what it is. I just hope Mariah is careful and that she has someone in her life that is real and has a real past with that can at least reach her or look out for her. It's like Mariah is like a real life Cinderella who got ready for the ball and the evil stepmother had to watch over her the whole time (and she according to an article and the fact that there are not many pictures of her) didn't even stay for the party. It's like Stella walked her through for her photo ops and didn't want her talking, she rushed through posed with a few people and boom, grabbed a steak with Tanaka, Stella, the other assistant and went home. Then they asked her if it's real or it's all for cameras and her reply was "that's an awful lot of work for cameras" or something like that. Then we get that awkward pic of MC and Tanaka. I don't even know what you want to call it. Touching lips? And a strange quote captioned. Her life is really a circus right now and I'm going to take a break from it all I think until things seem more put together. I'm sorry but I miss the "old Mariah" and I'm not ashamed. I do t know who we are looking at anymore. I miss the songwriter who always had a song that connected with me about some sort of topic in my life. And yeah, I can go to the back catalog, but something new and fresh was what always got me excited looking ahead to new music. I just wish we knew what she really was feeling right now, because right now, I am at a loss. The MW DVD cover and back was released and the description on the back is really what I feel Mariah wanted or visioned it being and I think she got caught up in this mess and felt she had no choice for the show. I don't know. With all these stories and Stella every single place with her 12 year old daughter every single place, taking the place of Mariah's friends. It's all just too insane. If Stella was pulling microphones away from Mariah for reasons we don't know the I'll apologize to Stella. If she is around Mariah 24/7 literally every waking moment and every outing due to Mariah's request then again, I apologize to her. But she really comes off as crass and just not likeable. But according to her and her middle finger thrown up in the air all the time even with her 12 year old, this is the attitude she wants to portray in the public so I guess she is getter what she wants from us. She doesn't want to be like by us, she wants to come off as this powerful bi$@h boss and could care less about us peasants. I think I just need to forget about it for a while, God knows I have enough of my own life to worry about. Wish Mariah would surprise some of us. I hate seeing what I am seeing. Sorry for the rant. Rant over.

It would be so nice if Mariah got involved in this now that the tour has been postponed. Mariah always got along with Elvis Duran and this is for charity which is always good, and it's backed by an orchestra. How amazing would Mariah and an orchestra be. I wish she would appear, especially with the response her live version of OMT got.

Oh that necklace dahhling. I loved it. Such a welcome change from that sameness two row strand with the drop. What is it about the kind of diamonds she wears that can age her? One More Try (73,148)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
All I can say is wow. I knew she would sound better doing it live than those pitched up vocals on the album. I'll never understand the production choice of that song. Always sounded too "happy" tone wise. I actually shared a raw video clip to a very large worldwide George Michael group and with how critical a lot of them were for Adele changing Fastlove on the Grammys and then Chris Martin doing A Different Corner on the Brits this week but bless his heart he was a bit out of tune. Let me tell you, each and every one of them absolutely loved the song and thought she should have been the one to do a tribute. They all said she sounded the best out of all the tributes they heard and vocally it was wonderful. A lot of them added they might not be a fan of Mariah as she is a bit too "diva-ish" or into herself, but they respected that she was such a fan and they had to give her credit on how beautiful her version was. Considering how George's fans are a lot like us and feel not many can cover a Mariah song very easily, they all agreed she should have done his tribute. So as one of the posters stated quote "Atta girl, way to knock it out of the park." Beautifully done MC.

All the hits tour (73,147)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
So Lionel put out that statement with no mention of Mariah at all. He kept using "I". Why do I feel like Mariah may bow out and use the "scheduling conflicts" reason? For all we know, this may be something both parties decided on behind closed doors where it severed the deal and nobody really gets blamed. Lionel had the health issue (not his or Mariah's fault) reschedules to summer however Mariah has contractual obligations since she already postponed her final Vegas leg to the summer, therefore cannot get out of it again and "regretfully has to pull out of the tour" maybe they will honor a refund for any of Mariah's fans if it does get to that. I just feel like that was a recipe for disaster from the get go. It could have worked to help Mariah's image and regain some of the fans she had in that age range, the more adult contemporary and old school RnB fan base. But is Mariah ready to tone down some of the fashion choices she has made lately? I thought she would and then the Vegas banner was used as the tour promotion and I think it set the tone from the beginning reading all the comments from Lionel's fans. Anyhow, I think if MC wants out of this, then this is the way. Again, I just hope her fans that are not there for Lionel, get a refund.
