Madonna hasn't outlasted Mariah. Both are still making music and touring smaller venues. Madonna's album selling 30,000-40,000 more copies than Mariah's isn't suprising considering she has a devoted fanbase who actually purchase her albums unlike Mariah. We also have to take other factors into consideration including the negative press Mariah received between 2014 and 2018 and R&B's commercial decline. Madonna released a pop album that panders heavy handedly to the Latin market while Mariah made an album that appeals exclusively to her fans so Madame X outselling Caution is understandable if frustrating and infuriating.

Mariah Carey - There's Got To Be A Way Emotions - The Wind Music Box - Hero Merry Christmas - Santa Claus is Coming to Town Daydream - Open Arms Butterfly - The Beautiful Ones Rainbow - Did I Do That? Glitter - Last Night a DJ Saved My Life Charmbracelet - Irresistible TEOM - To The Floor E= MC2 - O.O.C. MOAIA - Up Out My Face and Up Out My Face (The Reprise) MCIIY - Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane) MIAM - One More Try and Heavenly (No Ways Tired / Can't Give Up Now) Caution - The Distance This was hard. In my opinion, Daydream, Butterfly, and Caution are perfection from start to finish.

Who cares? Packer is gay and Mariah was his beard. Mariah told Packer she was a "born again Virgin" to avoid sleeping with him, I can't. Did we not watch this play out on Mariah's World? I thought it was clear to everyone she began seeing Bryan while still engaged to Packer, was it not? Some of ya'll have a looser grip on reality than I do.

Mariah releases an amazing album and it flops and Old Town Road is on its ninth consecutive week at #1? Are we living in the upside down or something? Someone let me know when things return to normal, until then I'll be living in the land of denial.

Why hasn't Mariah called up Drake for a collaboration? Do you think it's because the label is giving her a limited restrictive budget?

I love Jagged Little Pill and if Mariah was going lose at least she lost to Alanis. By the way, I still own Jagged Little Pill. Mariah should've won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 96 Grammy's. Mariah losing every vocal performance Grammy she was nominated for after winning Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Vision of Love is a travesty.
I would not argue that Daydream is a better album than Thriller. Sorry. Nice try though.

It's seven months later and I'm still listening to Caution, from start to finish, at least once a day. I'm glad she made the album she wanted to make and hope she continues doing so. I wish she'd releases Caution as a single. She looks amazing so she could easily resurrect Agent M for the video. I'd also love a remix of Caution featuring Drake.

Do yourself a favor and look at a list of past nominees and winners and you'll see a recurring trend of the Academy rewarding an artist in major categories. I don't think Mariah will be nominated in any of the general fields but if she is it will be the Academy making up for past snubs.
Both albums were deserving. However, I think Daydream is a better album than Jagged Little Pill.

Caution winning AOTY could also be viewed as a long overdue apology from Recording Academy for Mariah not winning AOTY in 1995 and 2005 (and for giving her the awards in 05 off camera) and not winning Record and Song of the Year for We Belong Together when she should have.
I honestly believe Caution will garner Mariah several nominations and at least one win because of its critically acclaim and because it was released after several years of turmoil in her personal and professional life/lives.

If Caution is indeed nominated for and wins AOTY it would be viewed more as a Lifetime Achievement award.

Caution will be snubbed in the general fields but will be nominated for Best R&B Album and With You will be nominated for Best R&B Performance. I could also see the Academy nominating Giving Me Life featuring Slick Rick for Best Rap/Sung Performance.

Instead of being negative why not be festive? Mariah is a gay icon who has donated money and time to gay rights. Mariah isn't going to sell gay pride themed apparel and merchandise and not donate a portion of the proceeds to charity, she's not tone deaf.

I'd add Butterfly to the list. Her performance of it on Letterman shows just how difficult that song is to sing. You can physically see her struggling at certain points in the performance and I believe she would've struggled to perform it live even during her peak.
