Agree, Mariah looked and sounded great.

Re: Honey - date release (100,579) (100,580) by Bill from the UK
Well, it was released on 25th August 1997 Europe, and in the US the following day (the US releases were always on a Tuesday so usually a day behind the European release date).

Re: Honey - date release (100,574) (100,577) by Bill from the UK
Honey was released to radio in July 1997, but the physical single releases followed a month later in August. This is on the Wikipedia page for the song, if you look at the "release history" section.

Re: What's on your MC rotation these days? (100,564) (100,565) by Bill from the UK
I've been in a Daydream mood lately. Blasting the album and YouTubing all the performances and interviews from around that time and reliving the London date for the tour (which I attended in case I've never mentioned it before). I've found a whole new level of appreciation for Open Arms. Her rendition is just sublime. I got out my CD singles and have been playing them all (a few mixes not on the MC30 EPs appear on them). I love those beautiful One Sweet Day remixes. The gorgeous a capellas and Chucky's Remix are splendid, and the Drifting Remix of Underneath the Stars is next level.

Re: Question (100,560) (100,561) by Bill from the UK
Thanks for the clarification my friend. So The One and Your Girl EPs are the normal ones that were released during the MC30 campaign it seems. As for IWTKWLI, this site's discography (invaluable resource) has a 14 track CD listed which is probably what is available on that website. If you're going to purchase digital music, let me recommend Qobuz. It's a streaming service but has a huge collection of hi-resolution or CD quality tracks to purchase, often with digital booklets. All Mariah's stuff is on there.

Re: Question (100,558) (100,559) by Bill from the UK
Hi Bobby A, what do you mean about the remixes? MC released an EP for The One, although it didn't include all the remixes (same can be said for all the MC30 EPs really, I wish she had consulted me first like). IWTKWLI has an existing EP on streaming (3 tracks) that was issued at the time of its original release in 2009. As for Yours, to the best of my knowledge no remixes exist, other than the fabled duet with Justin Timberlake version.

Re: What if that's just Mariah? (100,551) (100,554) by Bill from the UK
I don't think anybody is advocating for a return of the acceptance speeches of old when she thanked God, Tommy, and walked off the stage. Post-Tommy Mariah is capable of some amazing speeches. None of the "Day Ones" as you call them would criticise the Billboard "for the fans" speech, that was brilliant. Probably the best she ever did. That award meant so much to her. Mariah is one of only 33 women to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and she has long fought to be recognised for her excellent songwriting (Crapfinity aside of course). We're not asking for a mumbled God and Tommy 1991 speech, but a well structured, rehearsed, planned out speech that would commemorate such a momentous occasion in her career. Not rambling about bad lighting, spitting on JD, and barely being able to string a sentence together and, by her own admission during the speech, going off on tangents.

Great mash up (100,539) by Bill from the UK
Stumbled upon this on YouTube. I know we've all been a bit negative lately, so maybe this will cheer everybody up and highlight MC's talent (and that of the fans).

Re: Songwriters speech (100,475) (100,479) by Bill from the UK
Regrettably I agree. I was looking so forward to this moment, given she has fought to be acknowledged as a songwriter since 1990. To get such a great accolade, probably the most important to her, and show up drunk and be completely incoherent and give some rambling nonsensical speech was such a disappointment. I was actually saddened. This is forever, and how she'll be remembered. She says underneath the diva attitude she's the gifted songwriter etc., but she was almost a parody of herself. Absolutely heart breaking.

Re: Collaborations (100,451) (100,456) by Bill from the UK
I never said anything derogatory a out her post-90s output. In fact I agree, Caution is a great album. My issue is that she still happily pretends to be "The Voice", when she isn't. As you've said, her voice has changed. Nobody's voice in the industry has ever declined as rapidly as Mariah's has. Whether that was bad technique, bad choices, over singing, over working, or Michael Jackson's casket, we'll never know. Because she will never address it. Just shatter the illusion already and be honest.

Re: Collaborations (100,438) (100,442) (100,448) by Bill from the UK
There's a big difference between a creative peak and a vocal peak. The problem is that Mariah is touted as, and doesn't ever correct anybody, when she is hailed as one of the greatest voices of a generation. She doesn't say "Actually that was only for 6 years of my 30 year career." So, either address the vocal decline honestly and stop lip syncing your way through your concerts, or take due care of your voice (meaning no alcohol or marijuana - no amount of humidifiers will correct the damage those two substances do to vocal chords) and provide your fanbase and the public with what they expect from you. You can't have it both ways.

You Are Not Alone by MJ was released on his 1995 History album/compilation, two years after Hero.

Re: MC Instagram post (100,383) (100,386) by Bill from the UK
Yes, completely agree. MTV Unplugged is both my favourite album and DVD of Mariah's, and I think I was drawn to it for all the reasons MC mentioned on her post. It was spontaneous, no one had any grand allusions as to what it would become, she sounded amazing and genuinely in her element, I'll Be There was the crest of the wave that was growing throughout the evening, and she seemed so humble and thankful and grateful. It's one of her career highlights to my mind.

Re: More Rarities (vol. 2) (100,336) (100,341) by Bill from the UK
I'd add "We're Not Making Love Anymore" with Michael Bolton. Also, the original Dave Hall remix of Dreamlover has always been available (both at the time of release and on the MC30 EP); it was re-titled the "Bam Jam Soul".

Re: The Roof (When I Feel the Need) (100,311) (100,312) by Bill from the UK
The single at the time was released as "The Roof (Back In Time)", so maybe she always intended for a subtitle? I agree this hits to hit streaming ASAP.

Re: Best album addition? (100,263) (100,264) by Bill from the UK
Mariah's should be #1 record:

1. Vision of love
2. Love takes time
3. Someday
4. I don't wanna cry
5. Emotions
6. Can't let go (should not have suspended sales)
7. I'll be there
8. Dreamlover
9. Hero
10. Fantasy
11. One sweet day
12. Always be my baby
13. Honey
14. My all
15. Heartbreaker
16. Thank God I found you
17. Loverboy (original)
18. Out here on my own (as per your note)
19. We belong together
20. Don't forget about us
21. Touch my body
22. Migrate
23. All I want for Christmas is you
24. Crapfinity (just kidding)

Re: Best album addition? (100,260) (100,262) by Bill from the UK
Completely agree with Loverboy. My other three would be:

1. Here We Go Around Again on the debut
2. Can You Hear Me on Emotions
3. Slipping Away on Daydream

He is a gem isn't he? He also sent me the beautiful bottle green version of the debut album when it was released for MC30. Thank you so much Bobby A, you are a dear soul.

Re: Why does the Billboard article credit Mariah on BE? (100,253) (100,255) by Bill from the UK
She's literally the most awarded artist by Billboard. They love her.

Re: Why does the Billboard article credit Mariah on BE? (100,249) (100,251) by Bill from the UK
We need to be careful here when talking about Big Energy. The original version of the song sampled Genius of Love, not Fantasy. Just in the same way that Fantasy itself sampled Genius of Love. The rules seem to be quite clear that Mariah would only be credited if airplay/sales exceed that of the original which, in the US at least, appears to have not happened (yet). I believe she is credited in the UK as it is the remix that features Mariah which is currently receiving airplay and being purchased, enabling it to chart.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,240) (100,243) by Bill from the UK
If it really is affecting you so much then send a note to the account to make them aware, if you haven't already.

Re: Did Mariah actually write The Roof (100,225) (100,226) by Bill from the UK
That's not quite accurate. Mariah wrote the lyrics by herself, the music was written by herself and the Trackmasters (Jean Claude Oliver, Samuel Barnes, Cory Rooney). The Roof, as many know, samples "Shook Ones (Part II)" by Mobb Deep which in turn was written by Albert Johnson and Kejuan Muchita. So, songwriters for The Roof are as follows:

Lyrics: Carey
Music: Barnes, Carey, Johnson, Muchita, Oliver, Rooney
