Madonna most likely spent some of her own money on the video. Labels do not give older artists that are past their prime the same budgets that they give rising or current stars.

I love both. When I think of great singers I think of power, range, and musicality. Whitney's voice obviously overpowers Mariah's but Mariah's voice trumps Whitney's when it comes to musicality and range.

Re: Caution - now that we've had some time (89,304) (89,308)

I'm still listening to the album from start to finish at least once a day. My favorite songs from the album are Caution, Giving Me Life, and 8th Grade. I love With You and understand why it was chosen as the first single but I think Caution should've been the first single or Stay Long Love You. I think the fans that are dismissive of this era will come to see it differently years from now. I have no complaints about this album or era. Mariah delivered an amazing album, gave us three visuals that aren't cringe worthy or embarrassing in a timely fashion, and is working on repairing her public image which is exactly what she needed to do desperately after the nightmare era.

Mariah's streak was broken when Can't Let Go stalled at #2 on the Hot 100 after Sony pulled the single to boost sales of Emotions. Butterfly may not be Mariah's best selling album but it is considered her best album by critics and detractors alike.

It does seem fitting that she's receiving the Icon award this year. It does feel like a full circle moment.

Jennifer was the only recipient that I felt was undeserving of the honor. I still believe she didn't deserve it.

It was confirmed she's doing a medley of her biggest hits. I hope she performs songs like Make It Happen, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, and A No No instead of performing a medley of ballads. Doing so while wearing an amazing dress, not a mermaid gown, would do wonder for her image. I would love to see Mariah perform in jeans, a white t-shirt, and a pair of black Louboutins.

Why hasn't Mariah's self titled debut been certified diamond by the RIAA? I thought Shania only had two diamond albums The Woman in Me and Come on Over. What's the third?

I wouldn't be mad if she did the My All/My All Classic Club Mix during her medley since she always kills it when she performs it.

I think she'll be in fine form during her Billboard performance. She slayed the Caution World tour and I have no doubt she'll slay her medley. Plus she'll be well rested since the North American leg of the tour is over.

Article: Mariah releases new single and it flops (89,161)

"She released a single called #Beautiful with Miguel that wasn't really a hit per se"? Roger was reaching with this statement. #Beautiful hit #1 in 40 countries, peaked at #15 on the Hot 100, and was certified platinum.

Say what you want about poor album sales and singles failing to chart on the Hot 100 but this era has been her best era since the E=MC2 era.
