I must say, this is the first I'm hearing/seeing about a backlash to those Aquarium pictures lol. Even the Daily Mail readers had more positive comments about Mariah than usual, which is very strange because those readers are usually the first to jump on the "I Hate Mariah Carey And All That She Is" bandwagon.

Do you think that if Mariah lives up to her promise of new songs during the shows, she'll release them as she goes along?

I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning (that "Camouflage" is this album's "Petals"). It saddens me that she writes her best songs when she's sad/upset.

Me. I Am Mariah (46,230)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
With all that has been going on between Nick and Mariah, listening to the album is a different other experience. And listening to the lyrics a little bit closer, the album is full of a pain that I had not noticed before and it's the rawest lyrical album that Mariah has ever put out, excluding Butterfly, hands down. Mariah doesn't need to release a statement about whether or not the rumours are true, because as far as I am concerned, the album speaks in volumes about the whole situation. And I realise now what she meant by it's the journey of the past few years, and to be honest, it's so sad to hear her unhappy. The music may be disco-esque on some songs, but the lyrics tell a different story. I hope that they can work it out with the trial separation. Anyone remember when Mariah said that if she had had a trial separation with Tommy, she'd probably still be with him?

Hi Manny, it's just her murmuring the lyrics to the song, and noting them down. The tapping is just the sound the iPhone makes when the keys are hit. So, it's like you're hearing her creative process and coming up with the lyrics/noting down the lyrics on her pad of paper/iPhone before we go into the song. If you listen real carefully, you'll hear she does the same to "You're Mine" (album version).

Mariah's shoes glued to the stage? (45,814)
by Will from England
| |

Maybe I was watching a different performance to you guys, but from what I saw, Mariah did what she usually does (hip swaying to the beat etc). It was not more or less than what she does on stage. I enjoyed the performance and the two whistle notes (lipped or not).

Don't Forget About Us remix; H.A.T.E.U. remix with Gucci Mane/JD; Triumphant remixes; #Beautiful remixes; You're Mine remixes, just to name a few remixes that she has resung recently. True, she doesn't re-sing all her remixes anymore, but to say that she doesn't re-sing at all is a bit of a stretch.

Meteorite performance (44,495)
by Will from England

It's a pity that we may never get to see that performance. I hope Mariah's team will be able to get the footage and upload it to her Vevo account, since that seems to be the thing to do nowadays. It would help promotion in some way. What do you guys think? And congrats on the top 3 album debut and the #1 debut on the R&B chart.

For the record, I like the two MOAIA duets. I really do. And I've only just realised that Mary is only the second female artist that Mariah has sung with on a record. The first being naturally, Whitney.

Reviews (43,904)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
The reviews I've been seeing have been more than positive. I love the album. I think it's fantastic. "Supernatural" gets me every time and I don't know why. "Cry." is everything I wanted it to be. As far as I'm concerned, it's the combination of "Petals" and "Breakdown". Loving "Camouflage" as well. Stellar writing and so different compared to E=MC2 and MOAIA. She sounds confident in her voice, which sounds so strong. And where there is some auto-tune, it has a purpose being there (i. e. just for an effect, rather than to support her voice).

Mariah's dress (43,791)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
Mariah's dress that she wore for her Today Show performance really reminded me on her GMA performance for TEOM, you know, the golden-ish shimmering ball gown etc. It looked great and she sounded great IMO. Were parts of the performances lipped? Maybe. But out of all her performances thus far, she sounded great that day.

Nikki / single releases (43,738)
by Will from England

So, if Mariah is going by that strategy (performing brand new songs but not releasing them, to drive up the pre-order sales), does that mean we could potentially get another brand new song for the awards show? I mean, that strategy does make sense, to me in any case. Technically, neither Mariah or JD have called either song "the new single". JD certainly never tweeted out the word "single" as far as I am aware, and neither did Mariah/Mariah's team. Yes, the DJ called "Thirst" the new 'single' (and as far as I am aware, it hasn't been released onto iTunes as a separate single, do correct me if I'm wrong), and JD quoted him, but never really confirmed it. Yes, there was the "single cover", but point out to me where anyone says the words "single cover". So, maybe this is all part of Mariah's ambition to get everyone to listen to the album as a whole. If that is the case, then that's a brilliant move and certainly one way to get album sales up for the first couple of weeks.

Lol, the song isn't about "splashes" at all. It's about someone who dumped her to strive for their own dreams, instead they ended up looking desperate, or in this case, thirsty to achieve the same level of success that Mariah has. "The best thing that happened to your a$$ was me" pretty much sums it up.

Hot. Hot. Hot. It really reminds me of Migrate and that's a good thing. So catchy. It's impossible not to listen to it and not bounce around in your seat. I know that it won't be what most of the lambs on here will like. But I do. And I can't wait to buy and download it.

If you have not seen yet, Mariah's brand new single is due to be debuted on "Breakfast Club" at 9am (US time) today. It was confirmed by Jermaine Dupri on his twitter account. There is a rumour going round that it is going to be "Thirsty".

The Beautiful Ones vocals (43,479)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
So, I was on my way back to Uni, and I was listening to "The Beautiful Ones" through my earphones, and towards to the end of the song, I noticed some very distant, breathy high notes just going along with the melody that I had never noticed before (comes in around the 5.48/5.49 mark). I have listened to the this song countless times and never noticed those notes before. So glad that I'm still discovering something new with Mariah's songs, especially the background vocals. The same goes for "You're Mine" or "We Belong Together". I can listen to her various variations of saying "mine" or the "oo, ahs" all day long. Simply beautiful.

Sorry if this has already been talked about, but I was just reading the Wonderland magazine and it says that the album is going to be released through "Virgin EMI". I assume this is a mistake, just like the "Always Mine (Eternal)" gaff that they put in there.

It's funny you should mention that remix. I think it was yesterday, Mariah (or someone from her team) tweeted out that there was a new #Beautiful remix on her SoundCloud page. From my notification, it's called the "Sidney Samson Dance Remix". However, the tweet was quickly deleted. I also checked her SoundCloud page but there was nothing there. But, I still got the notification about the tweet on my phone and took a screenshot just in case.

Letterman (43,385)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
That was probably the last time Mariah will ever be on Letterman, which is quite sad really. Her performance of ATYNAF is still one of my faves, as is her "Butterfly" performance (which in my opinion was better than the SNL one). I hope that she can get into another appearance before he retires, but I doubt it. It was just a small, fun interview where she got do to some promo. I died she completely glossed over his question about her siblings and instead talked about the Time Magazine thing that they're doing with the "Make your own Mariah album title". It's quite fun really.

Today Show performance / single / album (43,383)
by Will from England
| |
|
|
I don't think Mariah will perform much/any new songs on that show. I think we can get "You're Mine", maybe TAOLG and at a stretch, #Beautiful with some older songs thrown in "for the nostalgia". I suspect Mariah wants us all to hear the new songs at the same time-ish (despite the different release dates for various countries) and experience it as the full body of work that she envisions for this project, so I wouldn't get your hopes up to hear new songs just yet. The same goes for a new single. As I previously said, I suspect she would like people (the general public and the lambily) to focus solely on the album and for what it is, rather than just judging the album by a single song. Is it a good move? Time will tell. But I can understand why she wants it to be this way. Album sales in general are low across the board, with a few exceptions, and are continuing to get lower. By making the songs "album only", she is "gently persuading" people to listen to the album the way she wants people to listen to it, and not the individual songs. It's a dicey move and one I hope pays off. Also, I may be wrong, but the tracklisting is also a departure from Mariah's usual style of album. A song called "Cry." to start off the album? It sounds to me like a sad song (and one I'm certainly intrigued to listen to). Usually, Mariah starts off her album with an up-beat song (with the exception of MC, CB and MOAIA) and then goes into the slightly heavier material. Very excited.
