Re: Beyonce (61,701) (61,706) by darrian liu from taiwan I thought Beyonce's first 3 albums were kinda weak (save for singles like Crazy In Love) compared even to "4" (which is technically her flop album). Her self-titled album was her second strongest album and her latest album, Lemonade is full of wonders (her best to date). I mean the album's amazing. And I thought her image up to the release of "Beyoncé" was too airbrushed, too perfect. I love her even more now that she's more fearless to express what she wants to say and how she wants her music to sound like (first 3 albums are kinda formulaic, "4" was when she started to screw radio-friendly formulas) and her new songs are so raw and sublime and fresh imo. I truly feel like she's gonna be a legend. Now, let's go back to Mariah. (Thursday 28 April 2016; 12:28)

It is sexist to say that Mariah should cover up to be more respected. Nobody should receive less respect for wearing more revealing clothes. So what if she exposes her twins? So what if Mariah chooses to act sexy? So what if she chooses the sing in little clothes? Does that take away from her talent and her craft? I thought Emotions had rich, soaring vocals and Merry Christmas had outrageously heavenly tone, but Daydream, in my opinion, showed Mariah having more restraint on her vocals and that's why I said Daydream was the best. Re: MIAMTEC vs Butterfly (61,448) (61,473) by darrian liu from taiwan Butterfly definitely edges out MIAM. For me, it depends on which aspect of the album we focus on. For the vocals, Daydream is the best of her career imo. Lyrically, I thought Butterfly is her best, however melodically, Daydream and MIAM slightly beats Butterfly in my opinion, although Butterfly gives a more remarkable imprint sonically as it is raw and more original. As a vocalist, imo Daydream is her magnum opus. But as an artist, Butterfly deserves that title. MIAM doesn't measure up to those albums as the production falls short of the subtle, graceful production value of Butterfly and Daydream, the vocals lack the effortlessness of Daydream, the sound not as uplifting as TEOM, nor it is as raw as Butterfly neither it is as graceful as Daydream and it is not as consistent (there were great songs, but some of them just failed to resonate). However, MIAM will always hold a special place in my heart as the album that shows Mariah's strength and perserverance despite the problems surrounding her. (Thursday 21 April 2016; 14:45)

I think if she comes out with a new song, the song should really be stripped back so that her voice is the centrepiece of it. Unlike previous years, 2015 and 2016 are quite unpredictable, but the one thing I noticed is that recent hits' production sounded simpler and less crowdy. Unlike 2012-2013 for example, those years' hits were packed with synths and dance beats with a lot going on with the instrumentation. This year's hits, from "Work" to "Hello" to "Hands to Myself" to "Love Yourself", there are not many layers of instrumentation and the production are kept minimal, to the point you can hear every single layer of instrumentations easily. That's why I thought Mariah should keep her next single's production really simple as it will really suit her amazing vocals. I guess we did describe WBT lol, but not another replica, please. I thought Dangerous Woman is more of a The Weeknd 's Earned It ripoff, although imo Dangerous Woman is better. I agree on Be Alright, it doesn't really have a climax or anything particularly exciting although it is catchy and quite good. I love how at least Ariana tried to not rip off Mariah and try something new instead. I really hope that she'll find her own voice soon (this is her third album and she still doesn't have her own identity). Meanwhile, will Bey really release her album today? Most importantly, will Mariah really sing in there? Literally Bey got me really excited about the potential collab. (Friday 1 April 2016; 14:43)

People say that girls mature faster than boys but I don't think a 12 year old girl wearing full on contour and make up with alcohol around her is appropriate, even if people say girls mature faster. She's actually balancing out her mix more and more and her belts have been more open-throated, singing open Eb5s. Likewise her vibrato is really even and rolling.
