Mariah's popularity will never recover (68,577) by Martyn from England, UK
I know a lot of fans say "never count Mariah out, she had a comeback in 2005 when her career had previously been in the toilet", but if we think about it properly, that wasn't too long after her previous few top 10 hits. "Touch My Body" aside, it's now been 10 years since her chart positions went into dramatic decline, and since then we've had a personality transplant, an aesthetic that has become bizarre and often embarrassing and a string of music that's completely out of touch. Don't get me wrong, I think MIAM was her most solid album (for the fans, at least) since the turn of the millennium, but I also think it's time to accept she'll never achieve chart success again. It's a shame because R&B is back on the rise, but instead of working with fresh producers, it looks like Mariah is back in the studio with Dupri. I doubt we'll get a new album for at least another few years, and when we do, it'll be another case of lacklustre promotion and early abandonment. Tie that in with bizarre interviews, shoddy live performances and publicity stunts like the recent Bryan Tanaka mess and what do we have? Career oblivion. I long for the Mariah who gave insightful interviews about her music, was confident in herself as a performer and connected properly with the public, but she's dead and gone. The only reason I'm still following her career is for the music, and I've learned to stop caring about chart positions. I just hope her next album is as strong as her last, because if it's not, I may jump ship along with the other 80% of her fanbase that seem to have done the same lately.

Who is the new blonde spotted with Mariah (68,575) by SM from Citizen of the World
Outside Catch LA Restaurant in West Hollywood? She was wearing ripped jeans and she was in a few photos I've seen behind Mariah.

Article: Mariah Carey is "deep into the Bible" (68,574) by Andrew from UK
Relationship with God? Praying together? Bible? If ever there was a reason to believe Mariah quite detached from reality, this is it. Also love the part about a religious person coming to the rescue of this who are emotionally compromised and vulnerable. Taking advantage of someone user the guise of helping them is abuse, no matter what the self-righteous nonsense in which you dress it up. Bizarre.

Taking a break from MCA for awhile (68,572) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
I hope everyone in the USA who celebrates Thanksgiving feels a connection with that gratitude. I also hope anyone who celebrates Christmas has a lovely one. If you don't take part in either holiday, shout out to you too. We might think we know what goes on for Mariah or Nick or anyone else who gets discussed here, based on what gets seen or camera, talked about in the media, or even the words that come directly from someone. There's always more going on for people than meets the eye, no matter what it looks like. Wishing everyone the best.

Holiday game (68,571) by Randy from USA
So since I'm tired of all the negativity, and to be honest MC and her team's actions warrant it, let's laugh. What would you trust/ask MC to bring to a potluck Thanksgiving to your house? Must be a good item she made. Me: mashed potatoes that I would then hook up once they're in the house lol. Mariah can't cook imo.

Re: Why Mariah is the way she is (68,555) (68,570) by JAXGH from United States
I thought she freaking sang at SSFT. Those belts are pretty on point. Her voice really isn't the same though. I get you what you mean. The damage is a result of her over working and bad habits. It's against the law for singers to constantly stay up all night. It shouldn't be practiced. She also drinks which again is a big no no for singers. I listen to her voice, she definitely still has the skills. Her glorious runs are there, whistles are there, belts are there, just the extreme high belts are not (We Belong Together, Honey climax, which she just blatantly lip syncs), the quality of the voice is not also not there. It sometimes sounds tired and dried up. But hey she's doing the best with what she's got. And it really isn't close to bad. Those Emotions intro and Thank God I Found You improvisations from Vegas are pretty passionate darling. It just varies honestly. Sometimes she performs good and sometimes she performs bad. One thing I can't wait to see from MW is the professional footage of her tour in Europe because she really did kill it. The camera being there probably got her bringing her A game. She also co produced it so you know she would make sure whatever makes the cut, is the best of her singing. It's also her really big chance to shut all the haters up, saying she can't sing (Rockefeller embarrassment). I can only imagine how mad Mariah gets when people say she can't sing. Singing is her life. I pray she doesn't dub anything.

Re: Kanye is having a 2001 moment (68,564) (68,569) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I always liked Kanye's music especially "The college drop-out" and a lot of other hit singles. Since he thought he's the greatest entertainer alive I begin to loose interest in him. As you said then came Kim Kardashian and from that moment on I couldn't take him serious anymore. This woman is one of the most unlikeable persons in the gossip news. For what is she famous in the USA? A TV-show? I just can't stand her, horrible person.

Again please re-read my post if anything said was meant to be taken seriously. Hence the first line. I apologize if it came across the wrong (non-jokingly) way. On a board where Mariah's most private part has been referenced several times in non-joking, non-sarcastic ways with practically no one batting an eyelash, simply alluding to the same subject but that of a guy's in a manner that was not intended to be taken seriously is simply not that much different. Is it unwarranted? Yes. But then again on a board where Mariah has been been criticized for behavior that she wouldn't have had been criticized as much for if she were a man, there is clearly a deeper issue here than that of me just making an unnecessary saucy joke that has apparently failed to come across as it was intended to. Peace.

Re: Nick (68,550) (68,566) by Lila from United States
Comprehension really isn't your strong point. My post didn't deflect from Nick. My post didn't attack Mariah's decisions. I didn't complain about people judging Nick's every move, solely, but their obsession with stalking and judging his every move although they finally got their wish and he's no longer with Mariah, therefor they should no longer care what he does. You really shouldn't take things out of context, it doesn't help you. No I wouldn't look crazy but you would because you continue to take things out of context. In the end, the big point of the matter, that you continually miss, is that no one has to agree with Nick's actions but that shouldn't be because someone has an obsession with seeing him fail or continually thinking that his actions should be decided on whether or not they'll hurt the feelings of a woman he's not even with anymore. You also keep glossing over the very real fact that the original post had nothing to do with Nick's behavior alone but how his actions make Mariah feel. This is also not a Nick board so no you won't see most of us discussing Nick. Lastly, it's disgusting to refer to Nick as a part time parent. He works. No parent has to apologize or be relegated to a part time parent for working. I'm sure if we ever got an in-depth look into Mariah's life, we would see that a good deal of her time is not spent with the kids either. Why? Because she has Vegas, touring, her music, that even after the twins were born, she kept her preference for working on late at night/very early morning. None of these things just happen while Mariah sits at home, baking cookies with kids. Then, there's the partying and Nobu runs with her circus who are also always around when she's with Roc and Roe. Roc and Roe have school with their tutors and their own extracurricular activities going on. The only difference between Mariah and Nick is that the twins travel with Mariah more (and no that doesn't automatically equate to more quality time spent) and she has a nanny. The same setup could be replicated with Nick but I bet most wouldn't dare suggest the thought of her letting him take the twins while he travels for work.

Re: The Fornication of Mimi (68,561) (68,565) by Lila from United States
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems, judging by your let's get crass statement, that you're talking about Nick's penis size, which, if so, 1) Edward wasn't talking about that. Cannon is Nick's actual last name and Edward used it as a replacement for penis, the same way he used Mariah's last name as a replacement for vagina. It was not a reference to Nick's penis size. 2) On one of his birthdays, Mariah tweeted Nick a pic of her bra-clad boobs saying she was waiting on him with plenty of exclamation points and those acronyms that if we ever find out the meaning, we would deem quite saucy. If Nick lacked in that department, Mariah wouldn't have wasted her time with pic or the caption and just wished him a regular ole happy birthday.

Kanye is having a 2001 moment (68,564) by Sheila from United States
While I think Mariah was bullied and heartbroken in 2001, I think Kayne was been spiraling out of control for a minute and marrying into that drama family was the worst.

I agree. It's such an incredible album, and I've seen loads of people say that "Reckless" sounds like a Mariah song which I 100% agree with. Would love that type of sound for Mariah's next album when it finally materialises in 2029.

One thing is sure, nobody of us really know what happened in 2001 during Glitter. But I noticed that too. Something at that time changed her. I do understand what Andrew pointed out. Anyway Mariah was definitely not like that in public at the beginning and at her prime. I'm just happy that she's still here (superstardom must be the hell sometimes). I will never understand some things that happened in the past few months (the entertaining circus and mess with JP/Stella and so on). But her music as helped me so many times I will always be thankful for that. She has a very good soul no matter how bad the image is nowadays.

Let's get crass. Haha. I think you're being a bit too generous with "cannon". For all we know Mariah was just too polite to hurt his feelings about it, if you catch my drift. Moving on... Haha.

It really does matter though Edward. Trust me having that family unit is very important for the psyche of children. Every little thing affects them. I don't doubt that Nick will remain a great father, but I wouldn't advise having 25 baby mamas. Okay moving on guys. I'm so over this topic.

Re: Who is afraid of Virginia Wolfe? (68,541) (68,558) by Musti from UK
As sad as it is, I must say I agree with pretty much everything in your post. I just want to say this though with reference to the voice. I'm not sure how much of it she has retained over the years but I do feel for her in that I don't think she ever expected her voice to change in the way it did. She had a remarkable gift but it wasn't a durable one. Her voice is likely to fail her much earlier than other singers that are often praised on this board like Patti or Aretha. These singers sing with basic techniques entirely within their natural ranges, whereas Mariah's singing has always been heavily reliant on the intricate configuration of her chords and nodules. I think #Beautiful on GMA in 2013 was possibly the last time she tried (and failed) to do a whistle live. She knows it's not stable anymore. Her exceptional technique is her inevitable doom. I just hope she does everything she can to preserve it, including selling off her champagne business and never picking up a flute again.

Re: Why Mariah is the way she is (68,516) (68,555) by Tevin from USA
Hey Mandy I understand your point of view. I really don't care how Mariah acts in her life, it's her life and in reality does not affect me. I know she went through more then we will ever know, and I do hope she finds true happiness in life. But I do expect one thing from her, that she has not given in a long time at least since 2010, and that's to get up on stage and sing, sing her heart out, with no smoke and mirrors, but with imperfections and reflections, and with passion. I just want her to sing. For being considered the greatest vocalist in the world, is that really to much to ask? Like I said, I just hope she is happy, it really does pain me when you see that look on her face when you realize that she realizes she can't sing like she used to, and lately I've been seeing that look on her face more and more. I honestly think she is not lazy as some have said, I think she has just lost her passion. I mean imagine you woke up one day and for a whole week you sung in front of people and you had the same exact voice and vocal skill as 1994-96 Mariah. The next week you wake up to sing in front of the same people and you sound like 2014 Rockefeller or 2015 Japan tour Mariah, and knowing you can never go back. I know these are extreme examples and Mariah still sings good (Infamous was great) but I hope you see my point.

Re: Click like on this if you won't be watching MW (68,515) (68,554) by Tevin from USA
Good observations Andrew. But I don't think Mariah started off with such a big ego and waco as some people have called it. Have you ever seen Mariah perform VOL at the Apollo theater? Talk about stage fright, she kept her eyes closed for most of the performance, and she messed up her lead up to the line "turned out to be" because she opened her eyes and was in shock with how the crowed was going crazy over the amazing vocal run she just unleashed. That's the Mariah I missed, the one who walked on stage with something to prove, and left thinking she should have given even more. Anyway I do think Glitter changed Mariah, ever since then even doing here comeback, she always had this glossy look behind her eyes (maybe I'm reading to much into this lol), anyway stressful and tramadic events in peoples lives can cause havoc on a person mental state. I'm not saying this is true of Mariah, because we don't know her personally, but with the way she has been acting lately, who knows? I will just hope for the best. Also for some new music.

Re: Nick (68,545) (68,552) by Mirage_Nunez from America
Actually Ive been fully aware (the whole time) that my argument probably had nothing to do with the original "Nick" post and that's fine. My concern in all of this was never that "Nick should've considered Mariah's feelings about getting another woman pregnant, even after their divorce" or anything of that nature, but more so a long running observation of how people attack Mariah in defense of Nick on here. It's quite normal for a discussion to spawn into other discussions. After all it is a message-board, topics change.
