Re: Comeback (68,701) (68,705) by Andrew from UK Given that Mariah has toured very little and when she does tour the high, belting or difficult parts (not even the difficult parts anymore) are lipped, why does Mariah's voice continue to decline so much? People may emphasise how long she's been in the business for, but this is misdirection. In reality, relatively speaking, she really hasn't done that much actual singing. If you watch [...] who is now off the air people wanted to be the next Mariah Carey. At some point in time so did Christina, Ariana [...]. Mariah does not sing like [...] once did because she has been in the business for 26 going on 27 years. That is a very long time to be recording music. [...] voice will suffer some normal wear and tear. [...] is to be expected. Once these ladies record for as being long as Mariah their voices will change as well too. Grant Mariah is known for her drinking and all but that is her personal business. She can still out sing most of these women on a bad day. I am a fan of her voice and music period. He knows all about what she is doing but can't seem to stop her. As for the kids, Mariah said in February that she hadn't really told the kids because the really can't understand. The kids also are used to their parents annual vow renewals, so they know quite a bit about wedding outfits. I've said for months that they have been telegraphing what they planned to do and a real wedding never seemed in the cards to me at least not with M and JP. Oprah was mentioned: "Oprah told me 'don't let anybody think that you don't put your own shoes on anymore' and she's really right," Carey tells viewers in her new E. docu series (premiering 1pm and 9. 30pm, December 5), as an assistant laces her into a pair of skyscraper platform heels. I felt that peice of information coincidentally poignant right now? IMO Oprah is trying to say don't lose touch or let others think you've lost touch or can't do for yourself/function on the most basic of levels. Mariah surely needs to follow that advice but doesn't. The article also says: "But by the first episode's end, the wedding is already looking shaky as Carey makes the decision to postpone the nuptials, originally planned for March, so she can focus on her 27-concert, 25 country Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour." This reminded me of an article I read earlier this year and I went searching for it to check the date and sure enough, it was dated March 2016 lol. If any of you saw or didn't see it, it's the one that, not only said that the wedding was postponed indefinitely, it also said, in the most nicest way possible actually lol, that Packer's momma, Roslyn, didn't like Mariah. Woman's Day sure did have their finger on the pulse with this relationship. This was before the narrative changed to Nick holding up the process and Mariah and Roslyn "growing closer" lol. I guess TMZ was right also, it was just going to be a commitment ceremony. I guess Stella was really passing them off the truth. Before Packer abruptly ended their 10-month engagement last month, the singer and songwriter took her Mariah's World film crew to a wedding dress fitting - showing fans a glimpse of the fitted, princess-style couture gown, featuring a belted waist and delicate lace, embroidered with white sequins and pale pink beading, she had planned to wear. Her daughter, nicknamed Roe (and named after her movie idol, Marilyn) also had a flower girl dress chosen and is filmed gasping at her "pretty momma". Son, Moroccan (their father is TV presenter, Nick Cannon), marvels at his mother and says, innocently: "She looks like she's gonna start to marry somebody." I know Mariah said that she hadn't told the twins she was engaged to Packer but come the entire [censored] on. How do you have the twins with you, trying on gowns, Roe has a flower girl dress, and Roc is talking like he thinks you're just playing dress up. Marry "somebody"? You were supposed to be marrying James, a specific man that everyone else already knew about. That is going to look so stupid to people. Also, taking into account the previous quote that says that the "nuptials" were planned for March, it really seems like she was just going to spring this shit on Moroccan and Monroe. "Oh, by the way, my loves, the man whose been awkwardly tagging along with us, I'm going to marry him." Last one: "Interestingly, she introduces the audience to her nephew Shawn McDonald who works for his famous aunty but is not so impressed by her racy wardrobe choices. In denial about her penchant for plunging necklines, he refers to them as 'turtle necks' and explains: 'When she came out with Touch My Body I renamed it Touch My Elbow so that I could be comfortable with it.'" I didn't know Shawn works for Mariah. I believe he's a lawyer. Right? Does he handle some of the legal aspects of her brand, if anyone knows? Leave it all out there? In 2009, Whitney was at her worst vocally, and yet she wasn't ashamed of disappointing fans, even with the backlash that ensued. At least she was being real. Everybody knows Mariah's voice has gone through hell. There's no point in keeping up the illusion that she can still sing like she can in the 90s. Sing the entire chorus and climax of My All. Sing IDWC all throughout. If that's too hard, then drop a key like she did with Emotions. This is all about pride, when people will actually be more accepting of her if she shows that she's vocally flawed. It's this charade that turns some off. She's a vocalist, period. That doesn't mean that she can't do anything else onstage to improve herself as an entertainer, but if she's trying to fool everyone to keep this image of her being a perfect singer when in fact she isn't, then what will be left of her in the future? It's bad enough that her image is at its worst since Glitter. The voice should at least buoy her back up. Focus on that. She still has it. She just doesn't use it to her advantage because she's either scared or lazy, and that's a shame. It's one thing to know the limitations of your current voice. It's an entirely different thing to try to make the audience think you still can do it like you did in the past by using playback way too much - and being bad at it. Wake up, Mariah. Come back. Her ego, diva antics and obsession with money, diamonds, her boobs and attention. Why can't she be humble and appreciative? She was blessed with a godly talent. Use that talent in a positive way. She's so into herself it scares me. It's not cute and respectful to be late all the time. I loved Ellen's attitude. And I wish she stopped with that fake dumb personage. She still has some power, some of the lower register while she is still playing tricks with the whistles. The woman clearly can still sing. You all are way to harsh. And we still haven't talked about the proper production process. So in a weird way, it's like having Britney in the studio, only older and with much more vocal expertise that she probably can still tap into live if she really tried and wanted to, but would rather mime, touch herself and gyrate awkwardly, because apparently that's what really matters now. Granted, her use of melisma and vocal acrobatics outdid most people 92-95, but Christina Aguilera after 2002 did not imitate Mariah. Not many people do. They realised they can't pull it off. However, facts are facts. Mariah's voice is [censored]. She's lip-syncing Infuhmuzz. She can't reach anything out of two octaves. We can all pray for a new album, which I am sure will have amazing acrobatics. But she can't actually produce this shit in person. So, I have to ask, where are these sounds coming from? Comeback (68,689) by Tameka walker from United states I think Mariah Carey is a phenomenal singer. She can have a comeback under the guidance of LA Reid. No one can touch that phenomenal voice that she has. Granted that her voice has suffered some wear and tear that is to be expected. So many of today's singers try so hard to imitate Mariah Carey. From Christina Aguilera, Ariana grande, beyonce the list goes on. Well all these women are talented in their own right. They are not prolific like MC. Mariah has monumental phenomenal talents. Here voice with in itself is A++ amazing. Her songwriting is very prolific who do you know have written 17 out of 18 number ones. If she did this several times over she will do it again. But with current sounds, current producers. Bruno Mars (68,675) by Licia from USA One of you made a post about his album and I can't find it. Anyway he has a nice album. Although I like a few of his old songs and I think he's super talented I wouldn't consider myself a big fan. I'm impressed though. Out of 9 songs there are only maybe 2 songs I'm not completely sold on. I hate when I don't really pay attention to an artist. Now I need to listen to his other albums to see what I missed. Also admire her inviting over Nick's mom, wish her own mom was around too, I hope they are on good terms. I am also so done with that darn turban haha, like Nick please stop.
