The greatest songwriter (102,941) by Carlos from Brazil I think the "problem" with Mariah as a songwriter in terms of being reconigzed is that her voice is so powerfull/beautiful and it's just so "in your face" that people can't manage to look more deeply into her. It's like it's impossible for people to understand that behind the talented superhuman vocals there is also a formidable songwriter/producer and the fact that she is super pretty doesn't help either. The greatest songwriter (102,936) by Mariahsbaby from usa All about Mariah posted a beautiful Mariah quote today, "Not everybody realizes that I write my own songs and they definitely don't realize that I produce them." Mariah is without doubt the most successful female songwriter and producer and top 5 of all time (men and women) included. What Kelly said was so accurate. Mariah isn't talked about in those circles when great songwriters/producers are mentioned, and I'm sorry one award three decades later isn't enough, Mariah deserves 10 other prestigious "icon" songwriting/producers awards. Mariah has won so many songwriting awards but they weren't televised not that nobody really watches those anyways, like the fact that she has over 33 BMI awards for songwriting. I mean this imperfect angel is unbelievably successful yet it don't compare to her talents, A gracious musical genius who devoted her life to her music and her fans. She is a real life Barbie, has an overly girly persona, she is so sexy and she knows it, a person of faith. Many people can't handle a women who dares to speak up, knows what she wants and who likes to be in control. History has shows that usually has insecure men bothered. The critics now mostly resort to baseless accusations and try to go after her character when so many from the industry and not just the stars has said she is one of the nicest people in the industry. That tells me all I need to know about a lot of folks around here. I'm not talking about people who had other stuff to do that week, but folks who were posting on the board a lot during the days before, during and after but had no well wishes. 2) Re: athletes, I won't indulge the rabbit hole this has gone down. I will ask, which singers at this stage of their career have #1 hits and put out quality albums all the time? Name names. Who is this fictitious model of what a singer at this stage should be doing that folks hold her to? How many have had #1 hits in 4 decades? 3) You say she's focused on more things than just music like that's a bad thing. I sure hope she is, she's building and supporting a family, not spending 24/7 every day putting an album out every year, and has certainly earned the right to explore many different areas of her life and interests. Die For You (102,311) by jaker20 from US Shake It Off. The song was released way too close to WBT, otherwise it would have gone to no.1. Or maybe she didn't know WBT would linger for that long. With that said, I don't know how much a remix really helps a song during that time. This remix to push a song in the charts is only recent and feels really scammy. I think there was that opportunity last year with Latto and BER but it wasn't rolled out properly. I said last year that if someone can turn a modern version of Dreamlover into a sample, the same way Latto and her team twisted Fantasy (and Mariah herself sampled Tom Tom Club's version), and then have a remix of it ready to go, it would be a huge hit. Sort of a BER but in reverse. But ideas like these needs talented collaborators, which I hope Mariah would be more open to. Frankly Mariah's best collaborators right now are Roc & Roe. They make her look at the world differently and bring her to the modern times. I had thought her partners will bring that kind of influence and something something inspiration to her life, but Nick Cannon turned out to be a loser, and her current beau has no creative bone in his body. Caution (102,096) by Edward from USA I was listening to Caution yesterday and I couldn't believe it's been almost five years since its release. One would think Mariah recorded a lot during the pandemic, so there should be enough material to at least release a solid EP. I do miss "The Voice". Sometimes I'm not sure if Marian wants to sing anymore. Most of her one-song projects in the past ten years have been lackluster, half-cooked. Her songs used to have legs of their own, but for a while now those legs are based on a hype that renders them crippled when you get to listen to them. Most cuts that didn't make it into her albums in the 90's are simply great. I'm not talking about her voice, but the artistry in her music. Butterfly was sung in her whisper register, but oh boy, those lyrics, the sentiment, the music, it didn't need an introduction. It's as if she were done with music but she's thrown into the spot light for a whole month every year and she has to act on it for financial reasons. I hopefully we get some quality music this year. Mariah and Dolly and Patti and other stuff (101,746) by Brad from USA I know they aren't necessarily an apparent pairing but I think for Christmas music season it would be neat to see Mariah pair up with Dolly Parton. To shift gears, have we heard anything about the collabo of MC and Patti on Patti's next album? To shift again, it's pretty nice to see Mariah doing her mogul activities at this time of year with so many ventures. I'm not the biggest fan of the alcohol/spirits lane she is in but I understand it can be lucrative. I didn't quite understand the Moet & Chandon performance, is this for her Angel champagne? The snippets I heard sounded like she was singing over a backing track but definitely a good portion of it was live. I also like the "little bus" she has been using to get around NYC. It seems so smart to me, she can do work with her team on her way to an event and also have her kids with her. Is this a particular kind of bus? It looks like a party bus but I'm sure its more sophisticated than that and hopefully environmentally responsible. She seems to be doing well and appears to be healthier and more fit. According to her, she doesn't care if the actress can sing, she just wants a talented actress. Do you guys have any suggestions? PS: I would also like to point out that the doppelganger who played her in the Lifetime movie (Mariah: The Diva, the Demons, the Drama) really looked like her and could be a body double or something lol. Not only the performance would be very good to expose her talent to new generations, she would also be the most amazing legend of the event with Mary J and Janet also.
