Yellow dress at Aruba (106,562) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Mariah looks amazing in that dress. She has gained some weight again, but she looks healthy, she became a bit too thin during the Christmas shows I think. Now she looks healthy and happy and she moves more naturally and freely and is more relaxed, a joy to see her that well.

Portrait late at night (106,529) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Forgive me, fellow Lambs, I got myself drunk tonight, and my whole neighborhood is listening to all the Portrait remixes. I have no remorse, this is the best release from Mariah since #Beautiful, it's been eleven years, I can't help myself.

Changed voice (106,520) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Mariah's voice has always been heavenly to listen to, it's smooth, it's like butter, velvet even, listening to her sing gives the same sensation as tasting honey. But what has happened the last couple of years, is that her upper-mid to upper register has lost that velvety texture, it has become more metallic. Celine is the one I like the least of the Vocal Trinity, even though I love her too, but her voice has always been so metallic and a bit painful to listen to sometimes.

I'm not saying Mariah's voice has become as metallic as Celine's, but she has lost a lot of that "Mariah" texture, it's just sound now really, and that is a bit sad. Her middle to lower register and her breathy vocals are as smooth as ever, so I guess we just have to enjoy that part of her voice from now on.

Portrait remixes (106,511) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I actually like the remixes, it's some old school Mariah remixes for you, gave me nostalgic feelings, but yes, her voice is very strained. Her breathy vocals are as pleasant to listen to as always, but her full voice and whenever se wants to jump up an octave, you can hear she is struggling, it takes her much effort to just sing one or two words in the upper register and it sounds more like shouting than singing.

Yes, maybe she should do an album with all the studio magic you can think of, and she can lip synch her way through her performances. We are very harsh against Mariah for her use of prerecorded tracks which seems to be 90% of her live shows these days, but the general public really don't seem to care, it's been a long time since I've seen YouTube videos bashing her lip synching. It seems like the people attending her concerts don't care and is just in for the experience.

Anyways, the Portrait remixes is new music from Mariah I'm actually going to play this summer, such a nice summerly vibe to those remixes.

Spanish guitar ballad (106,496) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
To read emotion through text is difficult, I wasn't jumping down your throat, it was just that reading your post gave the feeling if Mariah had actually released a Spanish guitar ballad, and how claustrophobic that would feel, like "get me out of this creative prison Mariah is holding me captive". If Mariah would have written something like that again, she would have hit a creative wall so badly, it would be no turning back.

It was a reply to your message in frustration, but out of love, nothing against you, just very much against your horrible idea.

Spanish guitar ballad (106,492) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Can we all agree that Mariah has to do new stuff for her next release? She already made four ballads with a Spanish guitar, do you really think what is going to put Mariah back in the spotlight is making music she did over 20 years ago? No, I hope she never does a ballad like that again. The two she wrote after My All are blueprints of My All.

Mariah has to surprise us and the rest of the public, something we have never heard of or would suspect, but it has to be authentic Mariah. And as we all know, Mariah can't be something she's not, she is unapologetic herself, I just pray she can do something completely different with her music.

The Distance (106,481) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
The verse Mariah is singing in the MFM remix sounds actually almost identical to The Distance.

MFM remix (106,473) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I can agree with you on that, but it would be nice to see the remix on the charts. This remix is going nowhere, it's not even on the iTunes top 100 in the US

Remix (106,468) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I'm so tired of slow to mid tempo basic rnb from Mariah, I think this remix sounds like it could be a part of MOAIA. And I think it was not a good strategy to release it so late, by last night, my exitement for the song was gone, and when I woke up today, it was lik "ok, let's listen to this song then". I actually don't think I will listen to it again, it's absolutly boring. I can guarantee you this won't be the song of the summer.

Article: Mariah spent Mother's Day weekend in Westchester (106,445) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Yes, but the songs about her father [were] written after her father had passed away, so when her mother passes away, I would think Mariah will write a song then.

Why everybody hates the girl we don't know (106,395) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Everybody rembers, every fan of Mariah remembers what happened in 2001 with JLo stealing the Fire Cracker sample and making an [almost] identical song from Glitter with "I'm Real" with Ja Rule, don't become an Andrew 2.0.

Why everybody hates the girl we don't know (106,388) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
She released an album called "This is me... now" that debuted at #38 on Billboard 200 then disappearing the next week. [Then] she releases an visual album, a film with the songs from the album, then a documentary called "The greatest love story never told" about the making of this film, but also about Ben Affleck and her love story. This was meant to be JLo's magnum opus, where she finally would get recognition for her artistry. This has backfired so badly, [because] the film and the documentary are so cringe and bad, that everything JLo has ever done in her career is now coming up to the surface. This is happening on TikTok mostly, so I haven't realized it [either] before I started to see YouTube videos about it.

This is the last post [about] this from me, but the reason I share this here, is [because] Mariah is very much a part of all [these] YouTube videos, [because] she was maybe the most vocal about this over 20 years ago. Even if we don't want to admit it, JLo is a much more relevant person in the cultural canon today, having hundreds of millions of followers on different social media platforms. Mariah was one of the people who tried to tell the world about this stuff 20 years ago, and is now [considered] a hero in all this. The "I don't know her" has [suddenly] got much more meaning.

Why everybody hates the girl we don't know (106,387) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Well, the [similarities] is that nobody [thought] Mariah would come back. Glitter tanking and Mariah being [bought] out of her contract was considered the nail in the coffin for Mariah's career back then. We only know today that it wasn't.

I think this is a certified last nail in the coffin for JLo's career, because all the stuff that is seeing the light of day is something you can't come back from. Us Lambs have always known this, but the general public hasn't. What is happening now is that the general public is getting to know [these] things, and when you understand that the artist you love doesn't even have their own vocals on their songs, much like Milli Vanilli, well, how can you as an artist defend that? It's impossible.

Why everybody hates the girl we don't know (106,377) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
This is a really interesting video made by a very talented youtuber, it's over two hours long and a comprehensive dive into the downfall of Jennifer Lopez. The reason I share it is because Mariah is mentioned quite a bit, and in this JLo debacle, after her album, movie and the documentary about making of the movie have tanked worse than even Mariah's own vanity project, Glitter, Mariah is portraid as somewhat a hero. Mariah was right about JLo all along.

While Mariah managed to bounce back in 2005 with one of the biggest comebacks in music history, because Mariah actually has talent, I just can't se how JLo will come back from this, it's career ending stuff happening now. Everything has been exposed the last few weeks, that she steals other people's music, dosen't sing her own songs, everything her being from the "block" is fake, she might be the most rude and mean celebrity there is, there's just no authenticity, and everything is out there now. It's really fascinating to experience.

New hobby (106,369) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I've got myself a new hobby, binge watching all the YouTube videos bashing the girl we all do not know. It's a joy to see the downfall in real time, exuberating, really.

TEOM concerts (106,248) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I think this generation has forgotten how brilliant Mariah was in her prime in the 90's, and the general public isn't that critical anymore against Mariah because she is not of a big interest in the general cultural canon, these days, except around Christmas. I think the people who genuinely gets upset because of all the lip synching, is the hardcore fans who have followed her for years. I am upset too, but still get very exited every time she actually does something live.

I'm still a fan and still very much interested in everything Mariah does, it gives me mostly joy to be lamb, as I guess is the case for most of the people on this board.

What do you guys think of the new Emancipation of Mimi Funko Pop figure? I have the first Christmas one and the Fantasy one, I'm not sure about this new one. Think I'll wait for another version, I'm sure there will be more.

Las Vegas (106,147) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I can't decide whether Mariah is actually singing some parts or the vocals are all pre recorded. In Without You, I think she sings to a back track first, but sings live some parts of the chorus, it's hard to tell, she has gotten much better at lip synching. She is still very stiff, but she moves a bit more freely than in the last few months. The stage was really nice though.

Academy recognising Glitter (106,084) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I actually think the reason why Mariah sounds so restricted on Charmbracelet had everything to do with Glitter and her breakdown. I think she felt the world really was tired of everything Mariah, especially her voice, many people back then complained that she was just shouting, not that this had anything to do with reality. Mariah was overexposed after the 90's, much like the risk Taylor Swift is taking now.

Charmbracelet shows a Mariah that is scared to annoy or pushing more people away, almost to the point of self extinction. She did exactly what people wanted her to, become a shadow of her self, almost a different artist singing wise. Well, we all know how that turned out, it's her most forgotten and least interesting album, only positive is that it felt really personal. I'm glad she came back in 2005 wanting nothing else than to be herself, showcasing every part of her voice. If you can sing like Mariah Carey, why would you ever try to disguise that?

Is Mariah Carey popular? (106,075) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
The score for fame and popularity is based on surveys, they ask a random selection of people every quarter, so it's not a ranking based on opinion.
